Ferguson was the only one capable of containing Cristiano, though. Making him play deep in midfield with defensive assignments didn’t help making many goals at the start of his career. It’s when he arrived to Madrid that Cristiano became an one of a kind player. Penalties inflates the stats, though the player that takes penalties must be the best of his team at it.
Scoring goals while playing as a striker for a team like Madrid doesn't make you a "one of a kind player". That's what strikers of big teams are suppossed to do. A one of a kind player is someone like Messi that scores at a strikers' rate while being a playmaker all of his career, tbh.
