According to TPark, Bonner > Tony Allen
I really like his hustle and he's on the right side of 30...
I expect Boston to resign him though...
We are witnessing the ceiling of Tony Allen. Due to the most important contract of his life coming up in 6 weeks, it's no surprise he's having the run he's having.
Like El Nono, I expect him to resign in Boston and start regressing as a player once his new contract is signed.

Maybe, 'Tres, but I won't solely tie it to the contract (even if it's definitely playing its part).
Allen's always been able to defend but he's needed to round out his game and mature a good bit. And since that devastating injury, I'm sure he had to re-evaluate where he was and he definitely had to learn to use his head more while he tried to find and regain the elite athleticism he had prior to the injury.
So maybe it's the contract or maybe it's a combination of a growth that had to take place in order for him to get to the level he's at now after the injury. Likely, it's a combination of the two and we'll see just how much he's learned over the last few years with how he handles prosperity this time.
I fully expect to see him back with the C's, though.
I just hope RJ has the same state of mind next season...
I wouldn't mind RJ being in a new state.
We'll see what he looks like playing desperately for a new contract...
If Tpark actually said that I will track him down and punch him in his fat face.
Tony Allen would be a GREAT sign.
I hope he looks great. Then we might get something that can actually help us in the playoffs at the deadline.
Pictures or it didn't happen, I think is what the kids say.
As many hoped for Money Mase, it's obviously not the case 100% of the time.
Back to Tony Allen, even though his numbers don't necessarily validate the type of year he's had due to the scarce amount of touches and minutes available, he's had one of his best all around seasons.IMO I'm sure it wasn't just because of his contract year, but I'm sure the contract was a motivational factor to put extra work in to some extent. After one of the most unfortunate injuries in recent NBA memory, he's regained most of his explosiveness which is a testament to the hard work he's had to put in since then.
I wasn't trying to sound negative in regards of my opinion with him regressing as a player once his new contract is signed. He could very well work just as hard as he has since coming off the ACL for many years to come. It just has sadly become a regularity for about 40-50 % of the average role playing athletes to regress once their most important contract is signed and sealed.

Quote don't lie...
Anyhow, I have to agree with 4tres in that there's always the risk that you sign him up and then he stops caring. Although for the LLE, it would be a good pickup.
FWIW, do we have the LLE to spend this summer?
The burden of proof is on him, as it should be. You've got every reason to believe the way you do.
I'm just hoping this is one of those blessings in disguise where an injury winds up allowing a gifted immature kid to be humbled and forced to find a way to succeed when his God-given abilities have been threatened and/or limited.
But it's perfectly understandable to be skeptical or cautious projecting forward.
I believe the Spurs do have the LLE available this year.
I have a feeling he's going to be worth more than that after he plays a vital part in containing Kobe and helping the Celtics beat the Lakers in 7.
Doesnt every team get it every year?
It can't be used in consecutive seasons. Also called the Bi-Annual Exception
Spurs have the LLE.
Don't think it will be enough to get Allen although he may very well have to get a deal somewhere other than Boston. The Celts have about 65M committed to just 6 players and that doesn't include Ray Allen. I know Ray and the Celts both want to stay together and that Ray knows he will be taking a pay cut from the 18M+ he made this year, but how much of pay cut remains to be seen.
Given that one of Spurs biggest problem has been perimeter shooting, adding a player who isn't a good idea.
If Spurs sign a vet perimeter player to complement Parker, Hill, Ginobili and Jefferson, this player must be both a decent shooter and a decent defender. IMO, shooting is even the most important part.
What are your thoughts on Sato, Bruno (considering the options)?
It's a matter of opinion, and I respect yours, but I disagree. I think the defensive part hast to take precedence. We had enough shooting specialists that played subpar or nonexistent defense and when they went into a shooting slump we basically couldn't play them.
I mean, if you tell me we can get a guy that plays defense and can also create his own shot for this price range, I'm all ears, but given the salary constrains we're under, I don't think we can be too picky here.
I think Sato could become a very solid role player in the NBA but I don't think it will be with Spurs.
Spurs need a player able to play some SF and Sato isn't that guy (too short).
I'm just of the thinking if Bell's the guy they end up with, I'm not sure that Sato wouldn't be a much better choice.
I definitely agree that, ideally, the Spurs would bring in someone like McGuire in size but with Bell's shot, but I just don't see a player out there, sans a trade (and even then it's unlikely).
What if it's between Bell and Sato?
