Athletic with a spectacular 42-inch vertical leap, Patrick Ewing Jr., who transferred from Indiana after two unproductive seasons, emerged as the Hoyas’ valuable sixth man, though with modest averages of 6.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Nevertheless, Geoff Petrie didn’t go shopping for stats or searching for Ewing Lite. He went for the athleticism and the defense and the intangibles, envisioning a player who could come off the bench and guard two or three positions. “Quick feet, quick hands, loves to defend,” said Petrie, offering an abbreviated scouting report. “Very aggressive. And a great kid.”

On Tuesday, he looked like an NBA player, scoring 17 points and hitting seven of his 12 shots, including two of four from 3-point range. As a 6-8, 240-pound small forward, Ewing looks both athletic enough and strong enough to hold his own against NBA players -- as long as his shooting remains this consistent.
He hit seven of 17 shots on Monday when he scored 15 points. He scored on fast-break dunks and mid-range jumpers. He was aggressive around the basket. After Tuesday's game, he spent an hour in the nearby weight room, making sure his body stays strong.

How old was Bruce Bowen when the Spurs acquired him (29)?
I think he's got the length, quickness and athleticism (42" vertical) to be good enough defensively.
Plus, he's shown that he can hit the 3 pointer.
Given these two traits, he may be just be worth the vet. minimum.
I'm inclined to agree. If this kid loves to defend, he could be a Bowen type player in the making, and with that build, he can bang with the best of them during physical play.
If he's willing to take the vet minimum, I'd say do it. Especially if this whole thing RJ falls through.
Likely we don't even have to sign him for a vet minimum.
One of those unguaranteed contracts will do.
He definitely has got to be better than Keith Bogans!
I like him. I believe he was injured most of the past year, so it's good to see him playing well.
Double checked his draft measurements:
Patrick Ewing 6' 6" 6' 7.25" 224 7' 0.25" 8' 1.5" 9.4 0 0 35.0 11' 0.5" 42.0 11' 7.5" 2 11.77 3.43 NA 43
Looks like it must be recorded in error. His standing reach could not possibly be 8' 8.5" , rather it should be more closer to 9' 1.5" . So his 42" vertical should be more like 34" and his standing vertical more like 28". Which is athletic but not ridiculous.
So looks like the stats have been rigged!
I would guess that the 8'1.5" was just a recording error. Like you said, it makes no sense at his height and wingspan. I don't think they inflate the stats at the pre-draft camp. The teams want accurate info.
how old was jax when we got him....
this guy can be a good cheap project
Trying him out might not be a bad idea.
i wonder if playing for Magic + Pat Sr right now means Orlando intend to sign him.
i was impressed with the big jumpshots in SL; if the defense is as good as advertised seems like a potentially good fit
Choker like his dad
No thanks
