you obviously aren't familiar with Apple's track record in somewhat similar situations. it may take a bit, but they will do something.
yeah it's ridiculous. i got a case from at&t right before i activated it, so not worried about the reception thing. face time works great. my friend who has an evo came by and we compared the screens side by side. the res on the iPhone is amazingly good.

I'm not using a sleeve, and while I noticed the bars coming up and down, I really havent had reception problems yet. made a few calls, everything good.
Loving the extended battery life too...
Lots of bugs....not cool.
Think I'm gonna wait for the White one...
so how bad were the lines for you losers who camped out at the Apple La Cantera store?
I remember stopping by before I dropped my wife off for work last year when the 3GS dropped and it was pretty big.
I just had AT&T ship one to where I work.
Apple's response...you're holding it wrong...
D'oh!
From what I understand that format just has a wider range. Is that correct? If so what kind of advantage does it give you? Simply a wider range, if that's the case?
Now that's rich.
N also allows more than one channel to be used at one time (not sure if the iphone will have this benefit) which allows for more bandwidth.
No, it's a lot faster than 802.11g.
G max speed is 54Mbps.
N max speed is +100Mbps.
My router is not dual band though. A dual band router would give you even faster speeds and less interference. Range is improved also since the spec allows for a stronger signal range.
I upgraded my router to N when I got the iPad, and the speed and range difference is quite noticeable.
It does. Wifi is super speedy now. That the CPU is also faster probably helps too...
Like I said, I see a class action coming from a mile away unless Apple hacks the signal display not to really reflect the signal strength...
Apparently some tests have also shown that the 3G upload speed has increased over the 3GS. Don't know how or why but it's a welcome addition now that we have HD movies to upload.
A friend of mine at work bought a sleeve at Best Buy when he got his phone. It cost him $30 but is actually a very nice cover that adds minimal bulk or even weight to it. I freaked out on how light the phone is, yet it doesn't feel fragile.
I can't wait until next month when I get mine, after I'm past my end of the month bills.
yeah it is a solid feeling phone, like the original iPhone was. The 3G and 3GS were less solid feeling cause of the plastic.
So you're telling me that you notice a difference in speed on the N connection? Because unless your internet provider gives you a line with over 60 mbps, there should be no difference in the speed your internet is downloading data with. Unless you're running high speed fiber, there is no difference in speed between an N router and a G. To say nothing of the ability of the website you're surfing on to give you 50+ megs of data per second.
54 Mbps is the theoretical max, or about 6 Megabytes per second. Average throughput is about 20 Megabits per second, or about 2.5 Megabytes per second.
I have:
- Two iPhones
- One iPad
- One Slingbox
- One Wii
- One Popcorn Hour
On the Wifi connection.
Just streaming/copying an HD movie to the Popcorn Hour would bog down the Wifi a lot with the 802.11g. Not to mention that the multiple antenna on the N give you more power, which means less interference and a lot faster throughput.
And no, I have cable at home. Download speed is about 20Mbps. I am moving to 50/20 FIOS (like we have at the office) as soon as Comcast jacks up the price one more time though.
Yeah I don't know or care to know what the technical reasons are, but in my experience N is faster than G, even though both are theoretically faster than my internet connection. I get between 3-5 mbps faster on N than G.
Wow wtf
