CANTON, Ohio -- Washington Redskins starting right tackle Jon Jansen ruptured his left Achilles tendon in the first quarter of the Hall of Fame game against Denver on Monday night.

Jansen, a six-year player who has never missed an NFL start, was helped off the field by trainers and teammates and sat on the bench for several minutes, his hand covering his face. He then was carted off.

The injury almost certainly will sideline Jansen for the season.

A first-round draft pick in 1999, Jansen became a starter as a rookie.

This just blows. Joe Gibbs and Washington lose their best offensive lineman in the first preseason game. Jansen has never missed a game in his career and now that he has a chance to play for a legend and help lead the Skins back to glory, this happens.

i feel bad for jansen.....he just needs to get well and be ready to compete next august....very unfortunate, but Bugel will have enough to work with.....

if Brunell (left handed) wins the starting job (most likely) then his blind side protector just went down.....

hopefully that's it for the serious injury bug in D.C.

BTW, Roy Williams and Sean Dawkins have company.....

    Taylor was impressive.

That does suck about Jansen. That is the kind of injury sometimes you don't come back from. Hopefully he will be able to.
