The yolk is sterile. It's the s you have to worry about, especially if you've plucked the egg directly from the chicken's ass. I'm being serious--wash your farmer's market eggs. But grocery-store eggs are washed. I think you're more likely to be struck by lightening than contract salmonellosis from eggs. Also, to get sick from it, you need a lot of salmonella bacteria present.
