I spent quite some time looking for this thread last night but still couldn't find it. Gotta thank possum face for bringing it back to Club's front page.

Watched part of Her last night and I was really moved by it, even though in total I only watched 15-20 minutes of random scenes. I wish I also had such an oral-operating system like what Phoenix had in the film. Her voice was still sexy as , and its magnificence was only multiplied when you didn't see her face , not to say the personality of "Samantha" who was so considerate, kindhearted and ingenuous.

The movie still has room to improve though. It'd be great if "Samantha" finally came to life, into Phoenix's lonely life and made a change to it tbh. I'll watch that film thoroughly and will watch it over and over again, then I'll probably write a sequel to Her if I manage to find a way to dock it with my "Goddess" series.

American Hustle - What an interesting mess! Christian Bale Robert de Niro's Robert de Niro, who then attacks Bale like a mother er in the one scene that he is in. Louis CK was Louis CK, so I couldn't take him seriously. Bradley Cooper was all right, but at the end of the day, his role was just head scratching. Jennifer Lawrence, to take a page from Red Letter Media, was playing dress up. David O' Russell needs to stop putting her in relationships with men who are a generation older than she is.

Overall, the movie was quite entertaining. It was worse than The Wolf of Wall Street, which the movie that people like to compare to it. But both movies were worse than Her, which is my movie of 2013!

Fruitvale Station - An interesting take on the Oscar Grant shooting on NYE 2009. It was close to lionizing Oscar but told a day and a life of someone who was, in earnest, trying to re-shape his life after stints in prison and a prisoner of gang and an underachieving existence. Michael B. Jordan of The Wire fame is fast becoming a new age Denzel as he played the role sublimely and with a sense of both the optimist and a pending doom of what is to come. It is not to canonize a person because we only know the tragedy of his life, but to devalue his right to improve as a human is a mistake. Ryan Coogler should've been nominated for director of the year--he wouldn't be my choice to win it, but he is most deserved of at least that praise. The movie was worth a view 8/10

I agree with most of this, particularly your ranking of the three films, but I quite liked the performances in American Hustle across the board. Even Jennifer Lawrence's; I don't think she should be beating Lupita Nyong'o for any more awards, but I also don't think she should be blamed for a horrible casting choice.

My biggest problem with the film, which I've seen twice now, is that the tone is completely bonkers. It has no idea what kind of movie it wants to be. And everything involving the romantic interests and betrayals is nearly impossible to engage with because the film wants to try to prevent you from ever really figuring out anyone's motives. It's not a horrible film, by any means, but it's one of the most disappointing I've seen in a while.

Just checked the IMDB page of "her" and found that movie was nominated for 5 Oscars, 5 mutha ing Oscars and none of them went to our Goddess There ain't no clearer form of snub than this tbh it's just a ing joke (which's not funny at all) that one of Goddess's best films didn't win her no major award, not even a nomination for any major award

Dallas Buyers Club - Matthew McConaughey has been hitting home run after home run lately. He was near unrecognizable in this. Jared Leto didn't give me the urge to punch him in the face Fight Club style, so that's a win in my book. Bradford Cox from Deerhunter appears out of nowhere, to my pleasant surprise.

Overall, this was a great movie, made greater by the addition of Mark Bolan (who doesn't like T-Rex)? This has to be SA210's wet dream about the BigPharma boogey man.

    All Is Lost: 8/10

Super barebones story. Might be higher for people who know a lot about ocean sailing. Great, largely silent performance by Redford. Some very intense moments and nice camera work. Very pleased there is a discount theater nearer to me than Round Rock; the new SW Theaters in the old Lake Creek Alamo Drafthouse building is just fine.

Only God Forgives - holy crap, what a piece of movie. Just godawful. Yet somehow, i also think only a cinematic genius could ever dream up something this insane. It's mind-numbingly stupid and pointless, but i also think it has alot of value. The so-called over the top violence is way overblown too, i heard ppl ran out of theaters vomiting and it isn't nearly that bad. Either everyone else is a pussy or never saw Hostel or any of those Saw movies.

    As a piece of entertainment - 1/10
    As a piece of art - 7/10

It wasn't by choice. Saw it first without my girlfriend because she wasn't interested, but then the buzz changed her mind.

Finally got to see The Wrestler. Outstanding performance from Rourke and Tomei was great in the supporting role as well. The whole mood of the movie was perfectly captured as well.

It's good until they surface--then it just peters out and is unwatchable as Silverstone weighs it down.

I find it tedious and choppy, Avante. It's stilted and Ford rambles in lurches. The production seems behind the curve for Hollywood '39. It's 1939, not 1929. The crooked banker is not handled correctly. Carradine is wasted. Mitc is overused. The plot strains common sense.

I love John Ford and John Wayne, but, frankly I detest this film.

high expectations for Captain America: The Winter Soldier...

And the Avengers series films also make a good reason why goddess is more likable than Natalie Porkman... Goddess doesn't need to act as someone's to get a role in the avengers films. Black widow is Clint Barton's in the comic book but you've never seen goddess's character kissing that hawkeye asshole or anyone in the past films (IronMan 2 and Avengers), hope there's gonna be a difference in CA2 though.
