Nightcrawler - 8/10, Gyllenhall is great in it tbh
The Grand Budapest Hotel - 8.5/10, Fiennes is really an underrated actor and the movie was pretty damn funny. Super Wes Anderson-y tho tbh.

Take those damn ratings FWIW IMHO. The Interview was like a 9.5 when it first dropped. What I have noticed from experience though is if IMDB rates a movie at a 7.0 or better, I'm more than likely gonna agree that the movie is good.
I don't necessarily disagree with you, but one has to consider the context. The Interview was upvoted in response to the cyberattacks, so the initial extremely high rating has to be taken with a grain of salt.

But yeah, lots of movies on IMDB get high ratings that gradually lower.

Foxcatcher: Wavering between 7 and 8. Takes too many liberties with the timeline. Director makes some dumb choices that detract from the great overall mood and performances -- seems to happen a lot with this guy. Carrell nails DuPont's weirdness but looks like a burn victim under all that largely unnecessary makeup. Tatum is surprisingly capable and Ruffalo is downright amazing.

I saw a in' dog the other day, "The Angriest Man in Brooklyn." One of Robin Williams final efforts. A piece of . Williams plays a man who is told by a physician that he has 90 minutes to live because of a cerebral aneurysm. I sat thru it, I don't know why, but, there is one hilarious ing part where Williams goes into a camera store to purchase a video camera to record a final word to his son. The store's clerk is played by James Earl Jones, complete with the stutter thing he does. It's priceless and worth the monumental suffering.

how does it compare to the original if you've seen that, better or worse? I've never sat through all of the original, just skimming and etc...Ginger Lynn was a pure sexbomb, getting a DP but I can never tell if the industrial music makes it better or worse. The Kimberly Carson sequence is the best, she's perfect imo. Never saw the unedited version with Traci Lords.

Honestly, I like the second one the best, though I usually only make it through the opening credits tbh.

Cool, I'll try to look for it. The first one seems like one of the most coked up porns ever made, which is saying a lot. Looks like Jamie Gillis isn't in part 2 which is good as he always seems like a closeted rapist.

The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies
    7.5/10
Finally saw this one, tried earlier but didn't find time. Caught this one in a 3D HFR screening as that's how I've seen the other ones. Really dug it, in some ways I prefer the Hobbit films to LOTR because it has less slo-mow gotry with hobbits crying and better overall pacing.

No doubt there is CGI overload, CGI Billy Connelly was ing ridiculous yet everything feels hypnotic, almost psychedelic in the HFR edition. So I kind of dug the more cartoonish look of these prequels since the book was for kids. Still think adding the feminist elf and love triangle was stupid so that's why I can't give these films perfect scores, but still prefer them to LOTR.

Also, Martin Freeman blows Elijah Wood's acting out of the ing water, it's not even close.

    Exodus: Gods and Kings
    7/10

So this was lambasted by liberal critics for its whitewashing of the cast, plus some conservatives were upset with a different interpretation (God speaks through a child). As a pretty huge fan of Ridley Scott I still needed to see it. Saw it twice and I feel it's underrated. It's got some issues though, the first hour is dull at times. Really the film doesn't really get interesting til God appears then it gets moving.

I think this is some of Ridley's best visual storytelling, he just seems really engaged and spot on.

A lot of people have issues with the script but I think it still features some powerful sequences.

Both Edgerton and Bale are very good. Curious if this film would benefit from a director's cut since I read the first cut was four hours. Maybe they can improve this and I'll increase my score. I definitely dug the version as it is.

Couldn't agree more with this entire take.

First time watching HFR. Knew what is was kinda gonna look like due to SOE on some tv's, and to say I don't like 3d is an understatement. But damn, both put together with time and care was mesmerizing, plus the film being good in itself was helped a lot.

I had no problems with GOd speaking through the child or the other changes. Those were all reasonable for a movie and it wasn't anywhere near goign off the deep end like Noah.

Watched that I Origins flick and it was pretty meh. I don't know if it was dragging or I was super exhausted from work and the gym. I may have to watch it again. That Argentine woman was hot though. I give it a 6.5/10
