Yea, Jonas What's His Face's character was derrivative and second rate AF. The McLovin character had its moments.
The movie on the whole probably wasn't the best comedy of its year let alone ever.
Saw this in 4k Saturday before last.

'Animal House', 'Porky's', etc. sh** on Super Bad.
'Super Bad' below the likes of 'Van Wilder' and 'Euro Trip', tbh.
I know. Not that high, like 'Super Bad'.
But this dude getting Blake'd is classic.
You called Superbad the Greatest comedy of all-time. You've nary room.
GOAT comedy of all time is Big Lebowski. Blazing Saddles is definitely up there as are a few other contenders.
SuperBad isn't even the best comedy of it's decade, Old School es all over SuperBad. Actually, not too many Ferrell flicks that don't crush Superbad from that same time period. Talladega Nights definitely does.
Superbad is great, Eurotrip is dumb as . If you want I can bring you Rotten Tomatoes ratings. The only semi-objective measure of Quality.
I love Training Day. Denzel was in the zone in the 00's with Training Day, Man on Fire and American Gangster.
40 year old virgin is the greatest comedy of all time Probably not but i still get a good laugh like it's my first time watching it.
eurotrip is fantastic, i think its in the 2nd tier. but i crack up every time i watch it.
superbad is tier 1. 40 year old virgin, wedding crashers also up there among "recent" flicks. american pie belongs in that category too.
my cousin vinny is GOAT among comedies
overall i'd go with shawshank redemption though
man, im really not that big a ferrell fan. other than anchorman and the other guys (extremely underrated comedy), i wouldn't put any of his flicks in the same tier as superbad. he's great in wedding crashers but thats a very limited role
wtf
saw that movie when i was a kid... thought it was cool but you haven't seen anything that tops that?
best movies i've seen, in no order:
no country for old men
there will be blood
casino
goodfellas
heat
city of god
interstellar
pretty much agree.
Back to the Future
I've seen it a hundred times but didn't come to this conclusion until watching it a couple months ago, when I was struck by just how perfect it is. The casting is perfect, the score is one of the best of all time, the story is deceptively complex for a mainstream movie if you think about it. Just an absolute masterpiece of cinema that manages to have wide appeal without being dumbed down in any way.

superbad > animal house, office space, 40 year old virgin
only movie i can recall that made me laugh as much as superbad is that's my boy. the trailer and don't watch clips on YT. just watch the movie and you'll laugh your ass off.
You guys mentioning American Pie need to watch that again, it does NOT hold up.
SuperBad just wasnt funny to me. Only comedy more underwhelming to me was The Hangover. And yeah, some Ferrell stuff I didnt really like such as Blades of Glory and the basketball one. But Old School, Anchorman, Talladega Nights are all better than SuperBad. Cera sucks. Fat Jonah Hill plays a real good try-too-hard but nothing special, imo.
I liked Chernobyl fro HBO, I think it is one of the best TV shows. Watched it when I was in my Athens real estate here in one day all episodes. Really amazing story line and actors.
Aim for the bushes. The entire theater was laughing for a good minute for that death scene. Rock & Samuel L Jackson were hilarious in The Other Guys
when they stroll right off the buildings to their deaths was sooooo god damned awesome. The Gator skit was the best bit from that movie tho.
