Granted I'm an outsider, but I don't get the fascination with Applewhite as a coach either. The fact that 5 years into having that co-OC le, Mack still feels the need to pair Applewhite up with yet another co-OC should be a pretty big indicator to everyone that Mack doesn't think Major can do the job. Major not even getting to coach the very position he played is also telling.

Who knows, he parlayed having a noodle arm and getting creamed by OU yearly into near mythical status on campus

The Co is a pay of paying an assistant more money to keep them from jumping . Wyatt will have nothing to do with play-calling. But it's ing stupid nonetheless.

A national reporter from 24/7 tweeted this morning that Mack Brown is in Alabama recruiting today. I'm not sure if he's there to see a specific prospect but I do know that JUCO DE Za'Darius Smith is originally from Alabama.

Mack did have an in-home visit with Smith yesterday.

Some updates from 24/7...

-Mack made school visits to Celina (OL/DL Jake Raulerson) and Whitewright (QB Tyrone Swoopes) today.

-Texas continues to recruit RB Corey Clement of Glassboro, NJ and the plan is to get him in for an official visit in January. Another name at the position worth keeping an eye on is RB Ke'aun Kinner of Little Elm. He hasn't received much attention this year because he's been behind academically, but things are supposedly looking up for him in the classroom. He rushed for almost 3,000 yards and 28 TDs this season. UT was by his school yesterday.

- Harsin and Applewhite had some tension. Both believed they should be the primary coordinator of the offense. Only one was - Harsin. Both are roughly the same age, bright, highly opinionated, and neither felt they should take the backseat to the other. Applewhite was forced to be the junior man in the relationship and he resented Mack's imposition of training wheels. Particularly with a guy he considers his coaching peer.

Don't be surprised if Jimbo Fisher targets Alabama defensive backs coach Jeremy Pruitt after the national championship game for the Seminoles' defensive coordinator job. Jimbo could target Texas defensive coordinator Manny Diaz as well.
