Nah, Messi should never have had to leave Barcelona in the first place. They were literally run by a crook in Bartomeu. The issue isn’t Messi’s salary, the issue was giving obnoxious salaries to everyone else on top of some horrific purchases in the transfer market. All that money Barca could have spent far more wisely to continue building around Messi but the sporting project was never any good after 2015.

Now you look at Barca and see how far they have fallen in stature. The CL humiliations still continue but this time in Europa as well. The lowest lows the club has seen in decades.

Laporta is another crack pot who is a slimy liar and politician. I will always support Barca but the way they are run is in absolute shambles. I’d argue they should have won even more trophies especially in CL if they had proper squad building.
