So my girlfriend was unable to go to game 1 with me, and all my friends are fair-weather fans who don't go to games. Instead, they make comments like, "Hey, is it true there's a guy from Australia on the team now?"

So, I bought one ticket and went to the game alone. Does that make me:

Fair weather fans are fans that only support the team during "fair weather", or when the team is good in other words.

If they were fair weather fans, they would at least go to a playoffs game when they're a #1 seed and one of the favorites to win it all. If they won't even go to that, they're not fair weather fans, they're not fans at all. Period.

It's a shame you have to ask others to determine who you are. Of course your action in going to the game alone makes you a fan. Try to make new friends at the game.

Because a true fan cuts off all contacts with friends who aren't fan--atics and gets a girlfriend who will crawl across broken glass to go to the game with you.

Nah, she was out of town. My friends ... yeah, they piss me off with their lack of support for the Spurs, which is why I have to come here to fill the void. But they are otherwise cool.
