well in south america it looks like I was totally wrong about uruguay. Not only did venezuela choke hard, but Uruguay also came out of the funk and got some big wins. Now they visit Ecuador who they are tied with in a big match, that could leave them as high as 3rd (over chile and ecuador) or worst case scenario tied with venezuela for 5th (play off spot). Uruguay is still in great shape though for that last spot because venezuela doesnt play the last date, so uruguay would keep that last spot so long as they dont lose to argentina on the final game AND take a lot of goals in the supposed losses (at ecuador + vs argentina).
now I think it will playout with ecuador tying uruguay for 4th/5th, and this time its ecuador that has a +4 in goal difference vs uruguay (though a chilean meltdown isnt impossible...) It will be funny as if uruguay is a group head in the WC despite having to qualify via playoffs, they are using the ranking now and currently the group heads would be brazil (organizer), spain, argentina, germany, italy, colombia, belgium, and uruguay (assuming they all qualify)
