Chinese and Japanese are genetically different than South koreans. But I'm sure it's not about genetics but more about nutrition since their northern bretheren are just as tall as the Japanese..Probably has to do with Nutrition. South Koreans are just taller than Asians. Of course Europe and Africa would be physically superior, I don't think that's news to anyone. I'm just saying South Koreans arnt "small". They're acutally taller than some european teams and taller than most South American teamssorry, I dont follow them that closely (though I am aware that there are a few big dudes here and there, never would have guessed the average height is so high, in any case I was comparing with the elite teams). Generally speaking (and having lived in china and japan and played in high school leagues in both countries) I dont think the asian game focuses on aerial attack but rather on quickness and passing, and physically I still think europe and africa are a cut above everyone else. I didnt even know they were playing, but yesterday south korea beat the swiss 2-1 in seoul, with both goals coming from headers so we're both vindicated

yes Im aware of the genetic and cultural differences between them (also agree that nutrition is probably the main difference as far as height is concerned). So your point about height is well taken, Im not a connoisseur of asian football, but of the 8-9 matches I've seen from south korea in the past 5-6 years, I never got the impression they were physically imposing like say ivory coast or holland. Its one thing to be tall, another to be able to bully other good teams/avoid getting bullied (like so many of the european and african teams do). There are tons of examples across all sports of players that are taller getting pushed around by heavier opponents, so in that sense I wasnt referring only to height when I said they are small and I still think they are at a disadvantage vs those types of teams (argentina has the same problem). Still Im very surprised by the 1.90, never would have guessed more than 1.85; Id even go as far as to say that thats an especially tall football team regardless of country.

Occasionally they will make a deep World Cup or Euro run, like the one they had at Euro 2012 where they also got qualification via playoff. At Euro 2012 they played the semi-finals against Spain and iirc were the only team that kept a clean sheet against them and were eliminated via penalty shootout. Portugal can become a different team during the final stage of a compe ion, so i wouldn't count them out tbh.
And both Ronaldo and Messi aren't the same players when playing for their respective national teams tbh. Just look at Ibra for example, he was never a threat vs Portugal, yet he's beasting at PSG.
