Scola should not disclose the extent of his injury so teams pass on picking him up on the waiver. Then he can get his full salary and become a free agent.
I hope he falls to us and we deal Bonner or Blair
Scola should not disclose the extent of his injury so teams pass on picking him up on the waiver. Then he can get his full salary and become a free agent.
it's a no-brainer for Dallas to bide for him so look for Scola to be claim by them!
No it isn't. They can't pick Scola up for one year cheap like they did Brand. His minimum commitment is ~3 yrs/$10M. That'll scare a lot of teams off, including (likely) Dallas. They struck out on DW, and likely are out of the Howard derby. They have to have something to show for blowing up their championship team, so they'll probably do a cap re-load and go after CP3 next year. That would preclude taking on any multi-million dollar multi-year deals like the requirement for claiming Scola.
Coming from the who doesn't even use proper grammar![]()
If Dallas does pick him up, he can easily be moved at the trade deadline because the value of his contract will be low. I think we should go after a shooting guard with our remaining 4 mill, not a backup 4 whenever we already have one in Brand
Not allowed to trade him until July 1, 2013.
If there's no way to move him, then it wouldn't be a good pickup tbh. Just no space in our Frontcourt and it would throw a wrench in next summers plan
Teams will try to stick Dallas with him next summer if they pick him up, especially anyone with cap room next summer or in 2014. Even at $3M/yr, with the three year commitment, he isn't exactly a bargain, more like even money.
That sequence made me laugh.
at a 3 million price they would not mind to go multi year and eat some cap space cause that price for a player like Scola is a bargain, it's money like of a bench player for a very good starter, even if in the future they will want to clear that contract they easily can do it, will be great trade chip!
Dallas isn't the only team that can claim him. We realize that, right?
This forum is going to be a riot later today, no matter what happens. Looking forward to it.
Edit: or rather, tomorrow.

Heat & Spurs, just to name two contenders, would LOVE to court Scola if he clears waivers. Instinct tells me, despite cost, LS gets claimedLatest amnesty scuttle: Cavs, I'm told, weighing up bid for Luis Scola. They've been fans of him for a while. Issue will be long-term cost
I worry about Charlotte. MJ has no plan and he wouldn't think twice about pulling players out of thin air regardless of cost and long term implications and they do need a power forward.
I read on a Dallas site that the Mavs have almost $5 million left. They could claim Scola for the minimum bid and still have about $1.9 million left.
Cavs making a push to becoming the Rockets of the East.
Smart rebuild.![]()
Why do you think Lebron left?
Just sign Kenyon Martin first.
Yes, but if they do that, that lowers the amount they can offer Dwight Howard in FA (or any other FA). It's the reason they have 1 year contracts only pretty much. They still might bid, but I could see them not doing it because of the length (even if it's a good value).
The only set big rotation I see is TD/Diaw/Splitter. Still need a 4/5th big for rest/injuries/foul trouble.

More amnesty scuttle: I'm told Charlotte, New Orleans and Sacramento all have levels of Scola interest and weighing whether to lodge bids
Eh, Scola isn't going to pass through waivers. One of the five teams showing interest will bid on him.
It was a good dream as long as it lasted![]()
I'm pretty confident it's going to be the Hornets.
1. They almost traded for him last year in the CP3 deal so it's obvious the really like him.
2. Demps was around during the Scola fiasco so he knows all about Scola.
3. After matching Gordon, AFIAK they'll be down to about $5 million in cap space. There's no better way to spend that than on Scola.
4. With the Ryan Anderson deal and the Gordon matching, they already have long-term contracts on the books so another one in Scola isn't a deal-breaker.
5. They don't have many quality bigs. Unibrow, Anderson and Jason Smith ... and that's about it.
6. They have no post presence right now. Enter Scola.
It's going to be the Hornets. They'll bid ~$4M a year and get him.
WTF. Why would those teams not bid more than 2.1 mil on Brand for 1 year?
My last off-season pipedream vanishing to POS team with illogical bidding.![]()
