I am not saying that I don't like rage. I don't know I feel like rage has an arrogance about them. I can't point to anything in particular, it just seems to me that they feel like they are superior. SOAD seems dirty, down with the masses. I guess that is the driver for me.
Also, Serj has amazing voice control. his ability to switch notes so quickly, without sliding (like without sliding from one note to the other, instead jumping from one note to the other) is awe inspiring.
Lastly, I agree with you, their sound is different. "A little off" may even be a fair description, but I like that. It seems to work for them and therefore for me. This is not to say that RATM didnt sound different, Tom Morello did some unbelievable things on the guitar, but I just like SOAD better.
Dudes I'm into the rock genre. Get over it.
More specifically soft rock, indie, ambient, stuff like that.
What indie rock do you listen to?
100% YES

...or he got confused with ---no skippable songs---
and
non-listenable songs...
This is my second guess...
And good call on Elton John and Yellow Brick Road.
The Killers as I pointed out for starters.
Coldplay, Some Modest Mouse (Discovered them in Rockband), Franz Ferdinand, Young The Giant etc.
None of those are indie...
Notice how this got went off course?
Where's your list? Your gay amateur music doesn't count btw.
The Killers may not be entirely indie but they do have quite a few indie song.
And yes most of them are indie bands. What are you talking about?
i believe they are all on major labels tbh
At some point they were.
EDIT:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indie_rock
I was specifically talking about the type of music, not necesarily about the term itself.

I'm a big fan of indie bands like U2 and The Rolling Stones.
Aside from compilations (unfair because I can name many that have unskipable tracks), there is only one album for me: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
There are a lot of great albums out there that have only 1-2 skipable tracks, but Sgt. Pepper's is the only album I can say has NO skipable tracks.
At some point they were...
We were talking about two different things entirely.
Indie rock is a meaningless term. It has nothing to do with what you are hearing. The proof lies in the facts that's someone would identify The Killers as indie rock.
Just off the top of my head . . .
The Cars (1st lp)
Tom Petty-Damn the Torpedoes
Iggy & the Stooges-Raw Power
Nick Lowe-Labour of Lust
The first 2 lps by The Pretenders
Rolling Stones-Sticky Fingers & Exile . . .
Led Zeppelin III
Big Star-Radio City
Neil Young-Rust Never Sleeps
Too many, tbh.
We are. Most are talking about great music and you're talking about drivel... Nice that you agree.
