At least it's a name people know and not the greatest center to ever play in the Micronesian League, or whatever.

    Still, Eddy Curry. Just, wow.

I bet you €100 that Diaw and Blair will have a fight with Curry this season because of food.

    Prediction:

Curry displays a surprising athleticism and makes the team to begin the season, but is quickly in the doghouse because you can't train away low basketball IQ. Cut by December.

Can't complain with a camp invite. Better than some of these other 6-7 guys the Spurs seem infatuated with.

In football, back in the day, they had a training table for meals called the "Fatboy's Club". We could put Diaw, Blair and Curry there instead of giving them meal money.

I like the move. It's your typical Spurs low-risk, high-reward type of move. Wouldn't it be some if after all these years he FINALLY lived up to some potential and was a surprise pick up for the Spurs? Well...I can dream right?

    Too damn funny!

Seriously though, I like the low-risk signing. If he applies himself, keeps himself in shape and stays out of trouble, he could give the Spurs exactly what they need. Still, we're talking about Eddy Curry. He's been in the NBA as long as Tyson Chandler and has basically made no impact whatsoever on any team he's been on. Therefore, I'd be shocked if he makes it out of training camp - even if he has lost weight.

Wow! from NBADraft.net...too bad he never lived up to the hype.

    NBA Comparison: Shaquille O'Neal

Strengths: Has more strength and polish than Shaq at the same age. The only thing that can stop Eddy Curry from becoming the next dominant force in the NBA is Eddy Curry. Has off the charts strength. athleticism is very good for a player his size. Has learned to score despite constant double and triple teams. Has a nifty turn around, can even knock down the occaisional 18 footer. Unlike Shaq and Wilt, does not have the achilles freethrow curse.

Weaknesses: Weight has become a concern. Consistency. Has had his ups and downs over the course of his senior season. In a much hyped matchup with Tyson Chandler, Curry left the 30+ scouts who came to see the matchup scratching their heads. Must continue to "want it" and develop to ever become the player that Shaq is.

It's going to be a great fight for that last spot with Curry, Powell, Wilkerson and Brown

I'm curious to see what guys like Brown, Powell, and Curry say about camp and what they plan to bring to the team. I think any 1 of those 3 can actually help this team. I'm just tired of this team being held back by guys like Bonner and Blair. Time to give some other guys a shot....

Great stealth move by the Spurs.

There is no downside to this signing really. Gotta love them trying to find a reclamation project with size for a change.

Hopefully Eddy makes the team and plays well. If he doesnt, its not like he is costing the team anything.

After a tweet said he was on the Spurs training camp roster, I saw a brief second of him on the spurs.com stream while he was taking photos. He did look noticeably "not as fat". Still looking for a picture, hopefully spurs.com will have a picture of him soon.

Great now we have three fatasses on the team. Curry has game but I've been hearing every season how he has slimmed down and ready to ball, we heard last season how LeBron and Wade motivated him to get into shape and how he was supposed to play for Miami and dude couldn't even get off the bench behind Joel ing Anthony. If he finally gets off his fat ass and tries to play hard he can be of use. He's definitely better than Bonner and Blair

The guy has lost weight, has always had a game, and would not be anywhere near the Spurs unless Pop sees something.
