What was he arrested for?
Manziel fun fact...his family is well known here in Tyler for organized crime. It's a running joke that you don't mess with anyone in the family or they will bury you in the Oil Palace(an arena they own) parking lot. I'm pretty sure that most of it has died off with the older generation though.
The legend grows...
as good as yours.![]()
And here I thought he earned the starting job on his own
We've already been joking around here about how a phone call was made before the offsides penalty to make sure the deal got sealed.
I'm sketchy on the details as the story changes/grows with every telling(you know how that is) but one of the family members is currently in the pen for racketeering. I want to say the original group relocated from Chicago...before the grandfather and Jack Dempsey started working together to build a sports venue in Tyler. You don't here much about them anymore around here...hence my assumption that most of the organized crime roots died off with the older generation.
I was wrong...it was cocaine trafficking.

sounds pretty cool to me
That was a good interview. Who is the supposed leader of the Heisman anyway? Manziel? Klein? Barner? I think Manziel has a good chance, although Klein gets UT the last week which could be a good thing for him like it was for Griffin.
I think the first heisman polls come out on wednesday. Klein is probably the front runner but I don't think he's the best player in college football. If Kstate goes undefeated he will probably get it though.
I don't remember if he was arrested or not but Johnny got caught shoplifting from Walmart a few years ago. Really the only problem with him is off the field issues, he had trouble with this at Tivy and this would worry me if I was an aggy fan. I only ever had one class with him and since he is who he is, he never did any work and teachers gave him the grades he needed (pretty normal for football players I assume). Also, don't be fooled by how nice or humble he may seem on social media or in interviews. He always used to say things like "give god the glory" after games but off camera he's not like that at all. I guess people know that now after his summer arrest.
On the field though, well his play speaks for itself.

I have heard similar stories but apparently he started to get his together after that incident at northgate.
This. But if KState drops a game and Manziel puts up his typical numbers against bad Ds these last 2 games then I think we see history.
LOL undefeated KState against UT with Manziels Heisman on the line. I'm going to go watch that game with my Horn superfan friends and say "I'll wear a cap (backwards) for one game but not a shirt."
Not this season...Gotta love Johnny, but Heisman is out of reach I think already but should be a front runner for next season...
I get the feeling that he's being sarcastic.
He's not. They're friends.
He has 1,000 more yards than Klein. The award is for the best player. Not for the best player on an undefeated team. RGIII lost 3 games last year and still won it over luck and richardson.
Well then that's really cool
He really does sound hilariously insincere, "friend" or not.
Don't know what to tell yall, but you're wrong. Guy is sincere. Check out the SEC rant if you don't believe me.
He's just a goofy guy. Go watch other interviews with him, he always acts like that.
