According to his agent, Baynes' performances have caught the eyes of several NBA general-managers. "There are two Western Conference teams closely following Aron"
Spurs would be a logical option with the Brett Brown and Patrick Mills connection. While it would be more traditional to go after him this summer, Spurs could try to grab him in a month when his Euroleague season will likely end. Baynes as 15th player sounds good to me given Spurs lack of depth at center.

The kid definitely has some lift (can dunk easily) not sure on everything else though. Is he tall enough (can't tell if he is 6-10 or more like 6-8)? Looks like he avg around 8 and 4 in the Olympics. Trying to find more video on him.

Good to know, I usually check that site most of the time, don't know why I didn't. Still want to see more video of him around the basket and if he has any sort of midrange game (saw a workout vid from 09 and his jumper/form didn't look too bad).

I'm sure Patty and Brown can give Pop a good scouting report on the guy.

Australian posters should be able to give a more in depth description but I quite like what I saw from Baynes with Australia last summer. He isn't that skilled but he is big, strong and plays hard.

Easy to spot with his Boomers highlighter yellow shoes

Well one thing is for sure, if he has even a little bit of space, he will dunk the ball

Big, strong and plays hard, like Bruno says. Played some good minutes in London. They used Anderson a lot when Bogut not there but I think Brett Brown put some trust in this guy. I watched him live when Australia v Greece pre Olympics and I think he would improve in a solid Spurs system. Reasonably good mover over the floor for a 260lber

With Splitter having even more trouble finishing at the basket this season, kind of hoping the Spurs are 1 of those 2 WC teams following him.

Bruno how would a contract situation work if he did agree to sign with the Spurs after Euroleague season ends?

benfti have any scouting report on Baynes?

He was Australia's only good man at the Olympics.. I hope he makes NBA. He certainly doesn't piss around at the rim like Splitter

how would a contract situation work if he did agree to sign with the Spurs after Euroleague season ends?
The first step is his team being eliminated from the Euroleague after the first stage in about a month. It's the most likely scenario but it isn't 100% sure.
After that, Spurs will have to negotiate with his team for a buyout and with him for a new contract.
NBA teams can give up to $550K for buyouts. Olimpija Ljubljana isn't a wealthy team and Baynes' contract end next summer. It's likely that they would rather get some money for him instead of seeing him leaving for nothing in a few months.
Spurs could offer Baynes a minimum contract or a contract with the rest of the MLE/LLE. The first year of the minimum contract will be prorated at about $350K. A LLE contract could pay him up to $557K in the first year. A MLE contract could pay him up to $500K in the first year but could be longer than 2 years. Whatever exception Spurs use, the second year will be at $788,872, the min salary for an one year vet in 2013/2014. On top of that, his contract could feature the traditional team options, player options and non/partially-guaranteed years.

I liked Baynes in the Olympics. IIRC, I had a couple posts about him. He played physically and I never saw him back down from a challenge. It would be a good look on the Spurs

Maybe he could be what Javtokas could/should have been.

He's a big strong post guy who's got legit size. We could use his toughness, but I'm not going to get excited until we hear something.

One negative I've seen from video of him, he is lazy (slow)/inaccurate with his passing.

agreed, he can be that way but I'm almost willing to put up with that since he's a banger down low rather than a pussy like splitter

He had 13 pts, 10 boards today:

    quote from head coach

I want to point out that Aron Baynes played this game with back spasms. He took a painkilling injection before the game.
