Five SEC players receive improper benefits:

According to ESPN, DT Zaycoven Henderson has picked up his Texas offer.
Barking Carnival saying QB David Ash and RB Daje Johnson are out for Saturday's game. I agree with Scipio here that Applewhite is lucky that all of the attention was on Diaz Saturday night because his playcalling was not good.

Inside Texas added that Ash's head will be fine but he could have a lingering issue with his collarbone and the AC joint at the top of his shoulder.
This is how a college graduate writes?
This is how Nick Saban could be coming to Texas.![]()
I would MUCH prefer him over Mack Brown. At least there will be no discipline issues on the field. Good tackling and blocking fundamentals are certain to come. And dude is a machine when it comes to developing QBs. I'd say its worth a shot if it gets Mack out of the head coach position.
I think Gruden would be a fantastic college coach. His name is bandied about every time a big program comes open...None bigger than Texas.
Besides fundamentals, he would be a ing boss on the recruiting trail. Not only could he continue to lock down top talent in Texas, but could go into Cali/Ohio/Pennsylvania/Georgia/Florida and stand toe to toe with any school out there
Not sure he wants to leave the box, though, but his personality seems well suited to running an entire show.
Gruden hasn't coached at all in 5 years and hasn't been in the college ranks since 1991, where he was a WR coach at Pitt.
Edit: But yes, he would be an upgrade over Mack Brown. Then again, a second grader who likes to eat paste would also be an upgrade.

Five star on campus according to 247, DE Solomon Thomas.
It is if you graduated from Alabama. Last in the nation in literacy for a reason.
Gruden pretty much singlehandedly turned the Raiders from yearly crap into a yearly super bowl contender (who went back to yearly crap after he left), then went to Tampa and won a superbowl. He turned Rich Gannon into an MVP, coached up Brett Favre who won 3 MVPs, and somehow made Brad Johnson look like a very solid QB that won a superbowl. Everything he has had his hands in has always gone well. I think he would do just fine as the coach of Texas.
And any upgrade to Mack Brown means that this team will immediately be winning Big 12 les left and right. Texas has so much talent every year its ridiculous, but always somehow ends up just short. I don't see Gruden letting that go to waste.
Recruits these days don't even know who Gruden is
Can anyone confirm that Solomon Thomas was in fact on campus? Find it odd that none of the 24/7 or ESPN outlets on twitter didn't mention it.

I'm sure most recruits watch MNF. But the fact that they get to play for a guy who coached up Brett Favre and led one of the worst franchises in the NFL to a Superbowl victory will be a much better selling point than going to play for... Mack Brown. lol
It's been talked about since the BYU game, but OrangeBloods saying DeLoss Dodds will step down at the end of the year.
This is a good sign that Mack won't be here for 2014 and the new AD/coaching search is in full swing.
24/7 saying 2015 WR Tyron Johnson of New Orleans, LA has been offered and Bo Davis visited his school recently:

Early rumors said that Bob Bowlsby was on a shortlist for the next AD. Bowlsby son, Kyle Bowlsby, says that Bob Bowlsby wouldn't take the Texas job. Not sure if the person who claims to be the son, actually is the son. But it sure looks like it.
Bowlsby is the only guy right now that I would want
Between the president and the HC. Mack not being fired obviously but they are formulating a plan for stepping down. He won't be back next year but nothing will be announced until December 8th at the earliest. Wants to finish this year strong for the kids. He has apparently been very emotional this week. Wants the rest of this season to be about the kids.
Bowlsby is the top target. More going on around behind the scenes in the Big 12. OU, KSU, KU and OSU all think he's too close to Texas and not aggressive enough in expansion. Wouldn't be upset if he left for Texas. Texas will make a strong push for Saban, but it will come down to 5 guys after that (right now the list is):
Shaw
Fitzgerald
Strong
Gruden
Franklin
Gary Patterson is not a candidate. Urban Myer is not a candidate. Pete Carrol is not a candidate. Chris Peterson is not a candidate.
"we have to get someone in here that can turn this thing around in a hurry. The concern with Gruden is how long he's been out of coaching. He's still only 50 but that is a concern as well as no college experience. But the interest is there on both sides. If Bowlsby is the guy, he's going to have a little fight on his hands because most people view Shaw as the third guy and the feed back we've got is that he may not be legitimately interested. I personally don't think he's going to leave Stanford unless it's for the NFL. The feeling on Chad Morris is that he might be a little 'rough around the edges for Texas'. But he's a rising star in college football. The list is very fluid right now. Several guys could make the list by mid-season. Many of the decision makers are concerned about having the right offense for Texas. Going to be an interesting couple of months. "
When did he coach up Brett Favre? The 1 year he was an offensive assistant or the 2 years he was a WR coach? And that Tampa Bay team was built by Tony Dungy. Oh, and that very same team went 12-20 over the next 2 seasons.
He did do well in Oakland, but let's not pretend like he turned them in to some sort of a powerhouse.
And just for the record, I've wanted Mack Brown gone since 5-7 so don't misconstrue my arguments against Gruden as a desire to keep Mack Brown at Texas.
