According to Twitter, lol?
I didn't know either so I looked it up:

Apparently from his days at Miami:

According to Twitter, lol?
Saw it earlier and didn't remember who posted it. I just when back and looked at it, Bruce Feldman from CBSSports was the guy who reported it.
Maybe we can have the 1st black coach win a div I championship...
But again, I would like the first year goal to be tackling. Give me some basic stuff that makes Texas football fun to watch again. Next, a QB that is a division I athlete with a division I arm, starter and backup. I don't think I am asking too much.
I'm like y'all in the sense that I woke up this morning and have spent most of my time trying to figure WTF is going on with this Strong deal. I've seen some theories, so I'd figure I'd put down a summary for everyone.
-one theory is the Louisville AD (Jurich) never gave permission to Patterson to interview Strong. Because Jurich is currently in Colorado on vacation, he's trying to get back to Louisville for a meeting. Bad weather in Colorado is causing a delay. 24/7 calls bull on this and thinks there is a more serious issue holding up the deal. It's also possible Jurich will match Texas' offer.
-another theory is the deal isn't close to complete and an official offer may not be on the table yet. Many of you may know Louisville's defensive coordinator, Vance Bedford, as he played for Texas in his college years. It's possible that his party leaked details to the media before anything was set in stone and that's why we're seeing all of the confusion this morning. The reality may be we're just in the beginning stages and not at the finish line.
-it's possible that Patterson and the search firm dropped the ball and didn't properly vet Strong. 24/7 claiming these guys have been a horrible disaster.
1.) Strong's buyout is anywhere from $4 million to $5.3 million. Rumors say that Patterson went against the input from big money guys by hiring Strong. They were in favor of Saban, Fisher and Briles. Because of this, the buyout could be a big hang-up as Strong may not have sufficient support to make the transition to Austin. Keep in mind he pulled out of the Tennessee job last year after having a contract offer.
2.) Another potential issue is Clint Hurtt, Louisville's defensive line coach, who has an NCAA show cause until Spring 2014 because he was involved in the Miami scandal. For those unaware, a show cause is a penalty brought forth by the NCAA where a proven cheater or violator of NCAA rules has to serve a suspension and cannot coach for a certain amount of time. The rule carries over should that coach be hired by another school. It also has to be approved by the NCAA. Strong may be insisting that Hurtt come with him to Texas.
One more thing I forgot to mention is supposedly Strong represents himself and has no agent.
I imagine that's not helping the matter if true.
I'm again back to just letting this play itself out. The big money guys wanted saban, fisher or Briles, also throw in Gruden. But none of them wanted Texas.
If our AD screws this up, I say we just go out and get Bobby Patrino, he would still be a slam dunk hire, probably better than Strong.
The announcers at the army game just said that Solomon Thomas is going to Ohio State, did he commit or is that speculation?
Speculation. He's probably going to Stanford.
This announcer is re ed, everything he is just making up...
Yup. 100%.
We have got to keep Heard
That'd be a blessing in disguise for OU, tbh.
LSUfreek killed that one. Laughed so hard.
I haven't seen it on the thread yet, but LB Zach Whitley flipped from Alabama to UCLA recently.
24/7 saying assistant coaching names are already starting to materialize.
Good bets for at least two big-name, non-coordinators and one Texas staff member should remain.
Vito-
Can't comment on Saban and Fisher, but 24/7 said the other day the reason Briles fell through is because he wanted the job on the spot. He didn't want to have to go through the entire interview process and Patterson was uncomfortable with that. I doubt we ever know who officially told Texas "no" and who Texas never had genuine interest in.
If the rumor is true that he might flip to Boise, Mountain West = fcked
Also is supposedly looking at Nebraska and UCLA.....
Only if you're stupid enough to believe the clueless army bowl announcers.
