Quotes from 2015 LB Anthony Wheeler of Dallas Skyline (HornsNation):

“They (the Texas staff) called me in and wanted to meet up,”
Wheeler said. “I was nervous. I didn’t think they were going to offer me until they told me I was meeting Mack Brown. Then I figured it out.”

“He (Mack Brown) said I have a good personality and he likes the way I play,”
Wheeler said. “He likes that I’ve got a good family that supports me and he’d like to see me commit to them. I feel pretty good that they see the potential in me becoming a good player and see it on film.”

“I was a Texas fan growing up. I like them,”
he said. “I like the players and how they play. I like the coaches and the staff. My junior day visit left a good impression. I like the facilities, the school, the atmosphere around here. They treat each other like family. I like that.”

“I really wasn’t thinking about committing yet,”
he said. “I want to see what other offers I can get and narrow it down.”

Update on TE Mavin Saunders of the Houston Kinkaid School (HornsNation). He's originally from the Bahamas and has played football for one year:

“I’m just going to do football most likely,” he said. “I saw that injury the other night [Louisville’s Kevin Ware] and I am second-guessing even playing AAU ball now. I know injuries don’t happen a lot. But if I am going to focus on one sport it makes sense taking that risk in something you are trying to accomplish something in instead of something you are doing for fun. I’m really second-guessing AAU now. It’s a big part of my summer but I am thinking a lot about that.”

“Most of the people from my school (Kinkaid) that’s where they go (Texas),”
he said. “It’s close to home. I classify Texas as home now. It’s really A&M and UT that I’ve always wanted to go to because I am used to Texas. It’s pretty much my home.”

“I know Austin, I know people that go there and know it’s a good school,”
he said. “All the sports are big-time. It’s always been my top school when they would ask where I would want to go. I’d never tell anyone that until now.”

“I watch football and know Vince Young and Ricky Williams,”
he said. “I know the history. I want to go and be a part of it. It’s really big time. I’ve never been to a game or anything but I understand how passionate people are up there just like it is in College Station. I know it’s big time up there.”

    Some updates from 24/7...

1.) Like others have alluded to, CB Jermaine Roberts is expected to make a final decision either today or at some point this weekend.

2.) His teammate, DT Courtney Garnett, will be taking his ACT this weekend. If he gets a certain score, that should remedy any qualification concerns that the Texas staff has even though they will continue to monitor his grades throughout the year. With that said, he is expected to be a Longhorn and the staff has no plans of filling his spot at this time.

3.) Texas has apparently identified a big, in-state athlete that no major programs are currently pursuing. The spring evaluation period starts Monday so we should hear more about him soon.

4.) Texas has no plans of giving up on ATH Nick Harvey. Since the spring game, they've continued to talk to him about playing both WR and DB. Larry Porter is the lead on his recruitment.

Nice pickup with Roberts. I thought he would have been bumped up to 4 stars eventually anyway but he definitely will now. He's a good one.

A few weeks ago Texas posted a job opening for a "Creative Director" job, where you made films and stuff like that. Derek Ochoa is the new Director of Creative Services for Texas. He held the same job at LSU prior to that. I've always liked the videos that LSU has made and I've been missing the same stuff from Texas. Hopefully Ochoa makes the same things at Texas.

Edmond, OK. QB Justice Hansen Will also choose between OU and A&M in the very near future. I think it will be hard to pry him from home but we will see which Spring game he decides to attend this weekend.
Looks like he went to OU this weekend. He tweeted "boomer" and posted a pic. Like you said though, you guys are fine at QB. With Heard and Hansen gone, you probably dont need to take one this year.

    edit: he committed.

Kind of old news, but haven't seen it before, so I'm just going to post it anyway.

One of the nations top ranked guards Roderick Taylor of Callaway High School (Ms.) claims to have an offer from Texas. An offer he received over a month ago. ESPN shows that he has a Texas offer, but neither Rivals or 24/7 does. Not sure whether or not he has an offer, but just throwing it out there.

Said he had a great time as always at A&M. I asked if A&m was still tied with Texas and he replied, "no sir I just reconfirmed A&M as my number one choice."

Both DE/LB Sione Teuhema and 2015 OL Maea Teuhema were offered by LSU on their unofficial visit to Baton Rouge this weekend. The thought is their decision will come next month after their high school finishes spring practice. Texas appears to remain in great standing.

Quotes from LB Dillon Bates on his recruitment (24/7):

“My top five is Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, Texas and South Carolina,” said Bates.

“It will either be late spring or early summer I’m thinking (for a trip to Austin),” Bates said of his future visit. “At this point I still haven’t planned anything yet, but I definitely want to get down there soon though. I’m still planning on it.”

“I’ll be looking forward to that trip,” said Bates. “I’ve only heard great things and seen great things about the Longhorns, so I’m ready to find out for myself how everything is. Everyone I talk to says that it’s great there. Texas is a great school with a great program and I want to see if I think I would fit in there or not. I’m ready to check it all out as soon as I can.”

“It (a commitment) is not going to happen any time soon,” he said. “I want to be completely sure. I want to be 100-percent certain of where I’m going, so it will take a while.”

Lates with 2015 OL Zach Rogers of Carrollton Hebron (24/7):

“I grew up a Sooner fan so I've been following Texas my while life,” Rogers said. “I know Texas has a lot of tradition and a big following, and they're getting things turned in the right direction.”

“That's definitely something I've thought about,” Rogers said. “It's not going to give [Oklahoma] some kind of advantage though. I'm not going to choose a school because I grew up rooting for them. Texas is a great school and the offer meant a lot.”

“I've talked to him (Stacy Searels) a few times since my visit,” Rogers said. “I like the way he coaches. I got to sit in a meeting and he quizzes his guys on what they're supposed to know. I like a coach who is that involved with his guys.”

“I'm definitely going to go back (to Austin) this fall,”
Rogers said. “I'll be back for the summer camp also."

Update on 2015 LB Malik Jefferson of Mesquite Poteet (24/7):

“Texas has always been one of favorites,” Jefferson said. “I always knew they'd be high up. I wanted them to recruit me just as seriously as others, and now it's not like I'm chasing them anymore.”

“It was nice. I can see myself being there,” Jefferson said. “I like the extra stuff like how now nice the dorms are and the facilities. I see myself being effective with the rush and pass coverage in their defense.”

“I want to go to a few schools I really like and just pop in and see how they treat me when it's not expected,” Jefferson said. “I want to find out how things really are behind closed doors. That's how I'm going to evaluate and pick my school.”

“He's (Manny Diaz) nice, he's energetic and he's a believer in God,” Jefferson said. “He's more about life than football. Football is great but life is important. Some coaches preach the same thing but I really see it in him.”

Quotes from 2015 S Justin Dunning of Whitehouse who's waiting on that Texas offer (24/7):

“They (Texas) just said there were glad that I got to come for the game and said that I really need to come back for their summer camp,” said Dunning. “They really emphasized on me coming back. To me, it seems like they want to see me in a camp setting where I work out, before offering.”

“It sounds like they’ll be stopping by this spring to see me in action first,”
Dunning explained. “Then I’ll go to that summer camp. When they stop by in the spring though, they want to see me at receiver too.”

“They told me that I’m good at safety if I don’t grow anymore,” Dunning said. “There’s also a chance that I might develop into more of a nickel back type player like Kenny Vaccaro. They want to see me run and stuff first though.”

“It doesn’t really matter to me,” he said. “If it happens, it happens. I think I’ll probably stay at safety or play receiver though once they see me. I like receiver better, but we’ll have to wait and see what colleges think of me there since they haven’t seen me play that position.”
