Mack brown curse will hit him hard. Probably the first decommit I've ever been happy about.
Hmm, we can't say that we didn't see that one coming. But as Floss said, glad he's doing it now. If he really wants to play for a coast team, right now his only options would be UCLA and Florida State. Or those are the only ones to offer him as of now.

lol. We ALL knew it was coming. This sounds more like good news than bad news, get it over now and move on rather than this happening later on. It was inevitable.
That whole statement was just a bunch of words. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Texas staff told him enough is enough and they just agreed to part ways. I kind of figured it was coming really soon when he used the "lack of transportation" excuse and skipped the spring game right after his visit to Ohio State. I don't see him ending up anywhere other than Alabama or Ohio State after playing the game for several months. I don't think it's a coincidence that Searels went up to Van Alstyne last week to see OL Connor Mayes.
Some guy at Shaggy, said this: "According to 247, Knox decommitted after a conversation with Mack. He asked if he could take visits and remain committed, and Mack said no."
Guess Mack was done with playing games.
I highly doubt his going to Alabama. He talked trash about Saban back in January, and I doubt that has changed. He posted something on Twitter last night about visiting UCLA. My money would still be on Ohio State.
24/7 saying Knox recently asked Mack if he could stay committed to Texas and take more visits.
Mack declined and here we are. Props to the staff if that's the case.
Alabama can sign a handful of elite guys on the OL and should be able to do better than Knox, so I agree with from that standpoint. His recruitment will be fun to follow now that Texas doesn't have to worry about all of the drama.
Excellent! Props to the staff, indeed!
Agreed! Which lineman recruit would you most like to see take his spot?
Bob Shipley to join staff reporting to Suddes.

Knox was likely going to be an interior guy for Texas, so it depends on if they'll use the open space to emphasize tackles or if they want to definitely take another guard. If you're looking interior, I like OG/C Connor Mayes the most right now if you're staying within the state.

I'm not a college basketball guy, but for those of you who are...the rumor du jour is Cameron Ridley is thinking about leaving now. Barnes might be able to field a team next year but I'm not so sure.
Texas offered 2015 DE D'Andre Walker of Fairburn, GA this morning, per 24/7. Expect more OOS names to surface this week.

Quick quotes from RB/FB Daniel Gresham (24/7):
“With all due respect I’m my own person,” Gresham told Hookem.com via text. “Meech (Demetrius Knox) felt like it was the best choice for him.”
“I’m a Longhorn,” Gresham said. “I’m not going anywhere and I’m solid with my commitment. No more visits.”
Frankly I’m shocked everybody is so supportive of Mack’s ‘no-visit’ policy. To me it just subliminally communicates you are scared your commits are going to find something better. To me I tell top recruits, “hey if you wanna look elsewhere you can b/c we offer the most – but if you do look around we will continue to recruit your position.” That statement shows confidence in your program but also gives them a negative consequence of shopping around.
Reality is Mack’s strategy only works on the kids that aren’t that highly recruited to begin with. So great, you keep the borderline offers but the real blue-chips don’t care and it just irks them that you are afraid you don’t stack up to other schools.
You can’t pretend you hold the cards when you don’t.
I feel it just points light towards Mack’s paranoia about everything in the program must always be construed in a positive light. Remember when Mack would only offer kids he knew would commit? Then he talks about how we have highest % of offers commit? Yeah, well you didn’t offer guys that wouldn’t commit so what does that prove? And why does ratio of commits even matter. Really all that matters is pulling in the best group of players you can round up.
ps - i know a bunch of highly recruited players in this class and many know about the 'no-visit policy' - and i can assure you it is perceived very negatively by many players (ie - lack of confidence)
I'm only a fan of it in cases like Knox and the fact that Mack guarantees your scholarship no matter what. You can't tweet pictures of yourself in another team's jersey while committed; you just can't. If you want to be mature and take visits on the low, that's cool. Knox needed to go and I think the staff had grown tired of his antics. Even some rumors out there he was recruiting for some unnamed schools. As far as Mack's policy being viewed negatively by recruits, there is a lot of anti-UT stuff thrown at them all of the time that all circles back to Texas' inability to win big games. That's the biggest question mark right now about the program.
Update on DE Jarrett Johnson from 24/7. They seem to think there's a possibility both A&M and Texas have pulled back on his recruitment:
“I’m just trying to keep the inside circle as small as possible and have everybody who actually matters know what I am doing and know what I’m thinking,” Johnson said on Monday afternoon. “The outside world right now, it doesn’t matter at the moment."
“I’m trying to give Texas and (Texas) A&M both equal chances at impressing me,” he said, “so I don’t want to decide too soon and make them feel like – ‘Oh, I’m not worried about you right now because I’m worried about them, so don’t come bother me.’ I’m letting them both have equal chances when it comes to recruiting me."
“[Texas A&M is] still the team to beat. I’ve talked to my parents and, like I said, we’re still waiting to get the word out in the summer but I’m giving UT a chance to come back. I’m just getting to learn more about both schools and I’m going to see what happens.”
“It’s very hard to keep it contained,” he said. “That’s why I don’t feel like waiting but I just respect the decisions of my parents so I’ll just go along with that.”
“The spring game (at A&M) was definitely a big deal,” he said. “They had the largest crowd they’ve ever had for the spring game in history. I liked seeing that support from the fans. The team was more intense than the scrimmage from the weekend before."
“I talked to both coach (Kevin) Sumlin and coach (Terry) Price. They let me know they need a pass rusher. They need someone that can get to the quarterback. I think I could definitely come in – at UT or A&M – and make a difference just because of my speed.”
“I’d say UT is giving me more attention just because I stated that A&M was in the lead,” Johnson said. “Now they’re trying to push a little harder for me. Coach (Oscar) Giles actually came up here last week. He just told me that they need me down there and that coach (Mack) Brown really wants me.”
“It’s really just the fact that they went 11-2 in the SEC their first year,” he said. “That impressed me the most. After that happened they had lots of top recruits come in and they’re all fantastic players and I wouldn’t mind joining that little group.”
Texas has offered another sop re prospect out of Georgia, per 24/7. 2015 DE Natrez Patrick:

I don't know who the original source is, but 2015 WR Chad President has been offered. He'll play QB for Temple this year.
Inside Texas reporting a UT staff member will see 2015 WR Kemah Siverand tomorrow. Good chance he's offered.
'15 RB Rawleigh Williams has committed to Ole Miss.
Per 24/7, Texas went to see TE Mavin Saunders of the Houston Kinkaid School yesterday and he has received an invite to campus to meet with Mack. No visit has been set quite yet but he does intend to go. Applewhite is scheduled for a follow-up visit soon to watch Saunders work out. He tweeted this out last night:
Mavin Saunders @Mavin_88
Things just got real interesting ! #blessed
