Texas still hasn't made a move on a TE in the 2014 class, but Applewhite has requested that DE Zach Vaughan of Round Rock McNeil camp on Sunday and work out on offense; something he's never done before (HornsNation):
“I called coach Applewhite early this week and he said, ‘Zach, we really need you to come out to camp,’” Vaughan said. “They watched my film and they think I’m an ideal tight end for them. They asked me to come out to camp, play tight end, catch some balls and show them it’s do-able, and he said they’re probably going to offer.”
“I’ve never really thought about it, honestly,” Vaugahn said of playing tight end in college. “My school has needed me on defense. I guess it wasn’t until I played stand-up linebacker that people could see I can move in space and I’m pretty quick.”
“I’m definitely excited about that (Texas' interest),” he said. “It’s kind of humbling knowing they think I have potential to play position I’ve never played before. That’s pretty special. The fact they have that much faith is pretty neat.”
