Quotes from CB Darrion Johnson of Brenham (24/7):

“We talked and he (Mack Brown) offered me,” Johnson said. “He didn't say a lot. He just told me there's no pressure on me. He offered and I'm going to take my time.”

“I think Texas would be a good school to go to,” Johnson said. “When I started I really wanted Oklahoma and Texas to offer me and now they have.”

“I liked the workouts,” he said. “You have no time to rest. It's fast and you have to go.”

“He's (Quandre Diggs) physical and he's a playmaker,” Johnson said.

“He's (Duane Akina) very cool,” Johnson said. “I like him a lot.”

“Tim (Cole) and Malcom (Brown) talked to me and said they aren't going to make me go anywhere,” Johnson said. “I'm just going to look at all of the schools and go where I want to go.”

“I want it to be a school that fits me,” Johnson said. “I just want to it to feel like they want me to be there.”

Latest with OL Ty Barrett of Dallas Skyline (24/7):

“It (the Texas Junior Day) was good,” Barrett said. “It was real nice. I liked that it was very family oriented for sure. I enjoyed getting to see the nice facilities and meeting all the good people and coaches there. I had a good time.”

“I thought all the coaches were great,”
said Barrett. “Especially Coach Searels though. Coach Searels has a lot of high energy just like my high school coach. Meeting with him was probably my favorite part of the day. I loved watching film with him and seeing how crunk he gets about things. He gets fired up and is really into it! I liked that the most.”

“Unfortunately I didn’t get offered,” Barrett told Hookem.com. “Basically they said they will stay in touch with me, but they didn’t offer."

“I’m okay with that,” he added. “I’m a pretty patient person, so I was OK with it. They told me to be patient with them, which is fine with me.”

“Definitely not,” he answered when asked. “I still like the Horns.”

“So far I’ve visited Texas and Oklahoma,” explained Barrett. “Next up for me is Oklahoma State this weekend and then Texas Tech on the 23rd of this month. That should be it for right now. I might make it back for the spring game (at Texas), but I don’t know.”

Honestly, I doubt that Knox' going to leave Texas. Last night were pretty interesting if you read his twitter. He had a tweet about how TCU "wronged" him? I don't know what that means, but it didn't sound good for TCU. Later, he tweeted about Texas' class, and some Alabama fan tweeted that he should wait to all the other teams to get their recruits, and then someting about Knox should come play for them. Apparently, Saban treat his players like crap. At least, that what Knox said. It was acutally a pretty "fun" conversation.

Maybe Knox is enjoying the process, but right now, even though it's "just" twitter, I wouldn't doubt his commitment!

Quotes from LB Cameron Hampton on his commitment to Texas (OrangeBloods):

"I was lucky to make it to the junior day. After we played on Friday, I told my mom and dad that I wanted to go down there," Hampton said. "We left on Saturday at 5:30, got there at 8 o'clock that night. I actually called the Texas coaches when I got there and told them. They didn't even know. I talked to coach (Bruce) Chambers. He was very ecstatic that I was there."

"My family and I made the decision to go sit in coach (Mack) Brown's office. We had talked for a little bit. Coach Brown, coach Chambers and coach (Manny) Diaz talked about what they like about me and why they recruited me. After that, I just pulled the trigger."
"It hit me right there on the spot on Sunday. I had no intentions of committing until I got there and it just felt right."

"I felt at home at Texas. My family can come and see me play since I'm in the state,"
Hampton said. "I just got a good vibe about Texas when I was down there."

"His words were that he doesn't want me to go on any visits. When other schools call, tell everyone I'm backing off and staying committed to Texas,"
Hampton said. "He has my word as a man, so I have to stay committed. It really doesn't bother me (not taking other visits)."

"I feel right about the decision and as coach Chambers told me, if I was to get hurt, the scholarship would still be on the line. But I plan on having a great season, and I don't plan on getting hurt."

"They said I have good character. I 'm a leader, I make big plays in big times,"
Hampton said. "They like the way I run sideline to sideline and make plays. I think they're recruiting me as an outside guy but I can play anywhere."

sadly, this thought is probably the exception not the rule these days:

    More on LB Dillon Bates:

He has two older brothers who have played for Northwestern and Arkansas State, so going out of state isn't a problem to him. He also consider himself a Texan due to his first 8 years in Texas. His father travels to Texas multiple times a month, so there should be opportunities enough for him to visit Austin.

DE Jarrett Johnson just got offered by Oklahoma and A&M. I know that fans are not super high on him but I guess the schools are, we might be missing out on something.

OrangeBloods saying that RB Ke'aun Kinner is supposed to receive his SAT score tomorrow. Mack alluded to signing "one more" player for the 2013 class during his National Signing Day press conference, so hopefully everything works out.

    Per ESPN, Ke'aun Kinner update:

A lot of you have been waiting for some movement on the Ke'aun Kinner situation. The Little Elm RB will be a Longhorn if he can get the test scores he needs.
Kinner got his SAT score back today. He needed an 800. The score he got was 750. So now he moves on to the ACT results, which he's expecting to receive on Feb. 25.
Remember, Kinner did sign with Navarro College earlier this month so that's his fall-back plan if he can't get his scores up.

    Thanks.

OrangeBloods seems to think Texas has moved on and Kinner's coach hasn't heard from UT in a couple of weeks. Bummer.

I haven't seen much but I'll let you know if I see anything significant. OL Terrell Cuney was supposed to be in College Station over the weekend and I know DE Jarrett Johnson had been looking into going to LSU.
