ATH Kevin Shorter of Newton was NOT at Texas yesterday. He was at Arkansas' camp instead. Important to remember he has a first cousin that plays for them.

Floss, any idea of what/who Texas wants at WR? Two already on board. Armanti Foreman looks like a done deal if D'onta get's his offer. Garrett Gray now has Texas on top, it seems. Emmanuel Porter has some serious thinking to do. Texas still wants Trey Quinn on campus, he want's to visit and we all know what the 40 Acres do to recruits. Then there is KD Cannon, who could be a NSD decision.

I know that you're going to take Quinn (longshot, I know. Just taking him in the equation) and Cannon, no matter what. But if Gray, Porter and Foreman are all on board, I doubt it, but it could happen. Then you are sitting with 6-7 WR's and that's without JUCO D'haquille Williams who has Texas in his top five.

It's an extreme situation, I know, but hopefully you get the point.

A reminder that 2015 QB Ricky Town and TE Bryce Dixon of Ventura, CA will be visiting Texas this week. Those are two more offers you can expect.

It is difficult to tell because we've never seen Texas throw out offers like this. With Bernard and Joe on board, I think they're willing to take all three of Foreman, Gray and Porter with the idea that Gray could be a flex TE type (even though I think he's plenty fast on the outside). We'll just have to wait and see what Applewhite's offense looks like in the fall.

Cannon isn't making a decision soon so this allows Texas to get their WR situation squared away with some nice talent and you can continue to go all-out for him and JUCO WR D'haquille Williams. Either one would simply be a bonus if you can swing it. You also have to consider Williams would be an automatic starter and most likely one-year guy, so he can be taken regardless of numbers at the position.

Quotes from 2015 QB Chason Virgil of West Mesquite after receiving his Texas offer (24/7):

“I feel like it changes things for me,” Virgil said. “Texas could be a good fit for me. I want to talk to Coach Applewhite and get to know him a lot better. Now that I have a Texas offer, maybe teams will start looking at me harder too.”

    “It was kind of overwhelming,”
said Virgil. “It was my goal to come down here to get it. So it wasn’t that shocking to me. I knew I could do it. I just set my mind to it and that’s what I came out here to do.”

“I think that Texas has a lot of positives,” he said. “They’re a winning program. They’re in a little bit of a rebuilding stage, but they’re going to get back to the top. I truly believe that. They work hard and they have great coaches.”

“Right now I don't know when I want to have a decision made,” he said. “I just know I’ll be committed to a school going into my senior year. I don't know when that decision will be made.”

Dumb question, but expected because he is expected to commit to Texas?

Things seem to be leaning that way after camp yesterday. IT and 247 think he eventually follows Shaw and flips to Texas.

Basically what ATX said. Lots of rumors out of camp yesterday that Texas knows they can flip him.

Update on 2015 DE/LB Anthony Wheeler of Dallas Skyline (24/7):

“Texas is at the top for me,” he said. “The visit helped a lot. I like them even more after this visit.”

“I’ve really always liked Texas when I was growing up as a kid,” Wheeler said. “I really like them now too though. It’s just how the coaches treat me here and how they handle all the others kids too. The facilities stick out a lot for me too.”

“They’re still recruiting me as a linebacker, but they’re also talking to me about defensive end now,” said Wheeler. “When we were doing our drills, they had me working on pass rush as a defensive end. Then they had me do one on ones with the linebackers."

“I feel like I can contribute at both. I got a little speed that allows me to rush the edge,” he added.

Well Mr. Chatman (if you really are his father) you're better off asking on Horns247 because we here don't know who will or will not get offered.

    Some evening notes from 24/7...

-OL Zach Ledwik of La Grange made a follow-up visit to UT today to speak with the staff. He left Austin with Texas atop his list of schools despite not wanting to name any favorites last week.

-WR Armanti Foreman and RB D'Onta Foreman are supposed to have a family discussion with their folks tonight.

-WR Emanuel Porter was supposed to speak with the staff earlier this evening or at some point tomorrow.
