I get excited just thinking about hiring our next coach
Not crazy at all. It's been widely discussed on forums around the country.

Texas is definitely the better job between them and USC.
My vote for the next Texas coach goes to James Franklin.
I read somewhere that Texas starts spring practice today, but other schools aren't starting til next month. I think Kansas doesn't start until April. Why wouldn't all schools start as early as they can? I'm assuming it's because each school is only allowed a certain number of practices in the Spring and they can choose when to use them?
Thanks Floss. Agree that he sounds like a dude who is still playing the game. I'll pass along anything new I hear from the AU side (I've got a rivals membership and JHoke is quite good)
Texas is better.
A name to remember is '16 ATH/RB Kameron Martin (Port Arthur/Texas), per ESPN.

First time he had contact with Texas was in the 8th grade when he spoke to Applewhite. He consider himself a Jamaal Charles type of back, at least they are from the same high school. Apparently he grew up as a Texas and LSU fan.
“My whole room is Texas,” he said. “I am a big Longhorn fan.”
Texas Tech and A&M has both been in on him, and LSU invited him in for a JD but he was unable to attend due to a track meet.
Glad you mentioned spring practice because I forgot to post about it. Yes, it begins today and concludes with the spring game on March 30th. Each school is allowed 15 practices in a 29-day timeframe. The week of Spring Break does not count. My best guess concerning Texas is they like to have spring practices coincide with Junior Days so the prospects can see everything while they're on campus and Mack probably likes spring practice to be over by the time the spring evaluation period starts in April. I assume he wants his coaches to be focused on evaluations and preparing for the summer camps. There's a lot of travel involved and spring practice would get in the way of that. The staff went everywhere last year from California to Florida.
According to his Twitter, CB Darrion Johnson will be in Austin this weekend.

They just posted on MB-TF the dates of two open spring practices: March 1 (4pm) and 2 (2pm).
KD Cannon will be here this weekend
Update on DT Cedric Johnson of Rowlett (24/7):
“I’m very excited about it all,” Johnson said of the junior day. “I’ve been looking forward to it.”
“Texas has a great tradition,” said Johnson. “The tradition that they carry is one of the main reasons I’ve liked them and something I want to see more of. But honestly, more than anything though, I’m looking forward to seeing what exactly makes Texas unique and why it makes every kid in the state wants to go there.”
“I get to see a group of guys who work so hard and truly leaves everything on the field,” he explained. “That’s exciting to me. I’ll be watching them closely and especially watching how the defense practices, along with how tight of a unit the team is.”
“I’m hoping to learn some stuff from him (Bo Davis),” Johnson said, “because anything new I can learn to help improve my game is always a plus.”
“I would be very excited about it (if Texas offered),” Johnson told Hookem.com. “At the same time, I would kind of like to keep my options open. I also like Baylor, Oklahoma and Texas A&M besides Texas. I’ll admit though, there might be a possibility that I could go ahead and shut my recruitment down if they did go ahead and offer me.”
Awesome news. Sucks that Heard can't make it.
Mack said this on the press conference, "Had one player say he wanted to commit but had one more visit to take, Texas told him no and wants him to wait. " This is huge if its someone in the First Jr day who committed but Mack did not let him until he took his visits. And who could it be? Had to be Bonner or Johnson right?
One of those two sounds right.
Mack and the football team just posted a new opening for Director of Player Personnel who will oversee/coordinate recruiting. Need a killer.

A&M is starting to look hard at SA East Central QB Jeremy Jones
Per 24/7, OL Terrell Cuney of Jasper and his folks are headed to Austin this evening once his powerlifting compe ion ends. They are scheduled to spend the entire weekend on campus. Cuney maintains that he's not looking to commit at this time but it wouldn't be a surprise.
Also from 24/7, OL Joseph Paul of New Orleans, LA says he's definitely making the trip to UT this weekend but he is riding with his mother.
Pictures from first spring practice.

I really like what they've done with the numbers and the new look on the helmets.
Another prospect that could be in town tomorrow is CB Jermaine Roberts of New Orleans, LA. He's the teammate of RB Leonard Fournette and OL Joseph Paul. His stock has been pretty hot lately and he's a guy Texas could very well offer considering LSU is after some more well-known names at DB.
