Agreed. Don't know what to expect, or rather know all too well from past experience what might happen. Bottom line, Spurs are within striking distance of burying these turds in a 0-3 hole. This is an excellent opportunity to exorcise last year's demons.
That's part of what scares me, tbh. I wasn't too worked up over this game, because they just need to split. But this series has always felt like a series of extremes to me. And I can't shake the feeling that they need to close it down, even though logic dictates they will lose at least one. It's insane.

I hope they realize they have no time to squander ing around tonight.

Am I the only one who wasn't even worried? What's wrong with you guys? Spurs aren't a ty team folks, and the Grizz are a very spotty offensive team. They will always allow us back in the game since they can't keep it up like us, the Warriors, the Heat, etc can.

Btw, glad Simmons had the balls to point out that Prince getting hurt doesn't even hurt Memphis. If anything it helps since Hollins can't play him anymore.

Can't be unhappy with being down by only 4 after that first quarter, but it doesn't leave me feeling any less frustrated with this game or at the moment, with this team. I fear for the typical 3rd quarter collapse.
You can't be scared all the time, otherwise you will have no chance. What is the point of being scared? It's not productive. Just keep playing.

Crazy no memory, master of panic fans crack me up. Seriously, anyone who has watched the NBA for any length of time should have known that kind of 1st half was coming. Here's what is coming next: the game will be close with either team maintaining a bit of a lead going into the 4th. The Spurs need the lead because once the game gets down to crunch time the refs will give damn near every meaningful call to the Grizzlies. The Spurs will have to be able to play and score trough contact that won't be called and will have to play smart technically sound defense and rebound better to win in spite of the calls/non-calls. I'm warning you people now to expect it so dont be surprised and panicking when it happens.

Turnovers and offensive rebounds... those have become our bugaboos these playoffs. If we take care of those two things, I like our chances. If we don't, we'll lose.

I wasn't that worried, but damn I haven't seen the Spurs sucked that bad in the first since the HWMNBN era.

Duncan is horrible at D. He can't even stay with FATsol? Fking dude hit 3 jumpers over him with Conley running circles around him in the key. Look at how much better Splitter's defense was. This team hasn't needed Duncan in 3 straight years.
    seriously, kill yourself.

gasol shooting jumpers is the kind of shot i would gladly give up whether he's making them or not.

Spurs by 10+ if they can hold Memphis to 3 shot attempts a possession tbh.

Worried? Meh. Not to the point of despair, but I needed to see the second quarter to feel like we have any chance. But disgusted? Yeah, very disgusted with that play. It was . At least it was the first quarter. If they contain it to that quarter, I will be a happy camper. Unfortunately, they have a history of coming out flat and cold from the half or coming out hot and hard in the third to fizzle to indifferent jump shots and porous defense as they near the fourth.

This game isn't the most defining game, as the Spurs have a lead in the series, but it could be a turning point if they play with as much stupor as they did in the first half.

I wasn't worried, but just pissed off with the energy to start. At some point, the Spurs were going to show up. Hopefully they continue and hopefully that 1st quarter start doesn't end up biting them in the ass tonight.

We missed a few good wide open looks too. Cut down the turnovers and stop giving up offensive rebounds, and I like our chances.

l I hope Pop didnt give up on tiago. Tiago's D on gasol has been superb. And Timmy's D on Zach and on slashers have been damn good too. Timmy just sucks on Marc, he gives him open looks that's what he wants. Marc is an overrated post up player and you give him open jump shots? That's bad.
Timmy just doesn't have the quickness to recover to Marc. Tiago can be one step closer to Marc and still stop the pg penetration because of his quickness and then he has more quickness to close out a shorter distance on Marc.

Yes. I don't get why Pop has been putting TD on Marc when it's clear that it works the other way around. Tim on Randolph-Tiago on Marc and we good.

Both teams increasing the minutes for key guys.

    Conley - 22, ZBo - 21, Gasol - 19
    Parker - 19, Duncan - 18, Leonard - 15

Unless one team pulls away in the 3rd, 4th quarter might come down to legs. Spurs need some quality offense from Manu so Parker can take over the 4th

Exactly! If your quickness to cover Marc Freaking Gasol is unquestionably nonexistent... who can you cover in this league? A non-pick and roll team with a center with no range on his shot? Dwight Howard is pretty much only dude he can cover?

Tiago is so fking amazing this town disrespects his defense so much.

Yeah I feel you man. Their 1st quarter was bad all around. Nobody did too well including Pop. Our D' was actually good though despite the 29 points given up. 11 points off turnovers, and most of those were fast break layups and dunks. If those terrible turnovers didn't happen, the game would've been like 17-18 or 19-18 even with the ty shooting. Other than Neal, and our 2nd unit rebounding, Spurs' D has been good so far.

Duncan picking up that uneccessary foul late in the 2nd kinda worries me though, because he's one foul away from foul trouble and another from sitting down until 6-7 minutes left. How the 3rd goes should be a really good indicator for the rest of the game. I hope we can take this one.

Tim needs to stay out of foul trouble in the 3rd so he can guard Z-Bo in the 4th. Splitter guards Gasol way better than Duncan as well.
