I'm watching a bit of France vs Greece, it's a nice opportunity for Ajinca to audition for the 15th spot on the Spurs roster with this opportunity of playing for 2 month next to Boris like he would off the Spurs bench.

Getting pretty concerning after his underwhelming summer league.
He was fine in SL before getting some minor injury but I agree it would be worrisome if he end up playing bad with Canada this summer given what role should be his next season. If Joseph had a bad summer, Pop should put him in balance with Mills for the backup PG spot.

It looks like FNT got crushed by Greece. I didn't watch the game but Batum and Parker stats are horrible. For Parker, it isn't surprising with him being late conditioning wise and with this game being the 3rd in 3 days. For Batum, I find that he has really struggled to reach the next level in his career for a little over a year and I think it's a mental issue. And Greece won't be as good as they are once the ballhog Spanoulis will be back.

France have had a few good moments. From the end of the first quarter to midway through the third. Defensively, it's was overall good during this stretch, a lot of intesity. Offensively, France cut the lead to 1 running a lot of PnR during the third before beeing crushed.

Tony was just terrible tonight. He couldn't do anything. Moreover, refs weren't blewing their whistle at all with him. When he was driving to the basket, he has been constantly trapped and seemed to have no answer to this plan.

Batum has been worse than Tony. Incredibly weak. During the first half, he was not very involved in the plays and when he had the ball, he was turning it over, looking for dumb passes. During the second half, he was more involved but Greece decided to shut him down, keeping him away from the ball. When the ball finally arrived into his hands, it was in bad situations. Ver very bad game.

Boris and Nando played a good game overall. Nando helped France to be back in the 2nd with craftiness. Boris wasn't afraid to take shots all game long, helping a lot on the board. Both of them were good overall.

You really think that Spanoulis is going to hobble their game ?

He has a huge impact on the game and it's not only a positive one. I doubt the balanced offense they showed in that tournament with survive to Spanoulis having the ball so often in his hands.

Tillie, Westermann and Fournier have been cut. I kinda disagree on Westermann and Fournier cut. They haven't been great in these friendly games and FNT might be better this summer with Diot, Heurtel or Kahudi but the goal is also the 2015 Euro that will qualify for the 2016 Olympics. Having Westermann and Fournier at the end of the bench would have allowed to work on the future without really hurting the present.

I'm not convinced by Westermann. He's a a bad defender and a bad scorer. He's young and will probably improve but I don't think he can contribute in September.

However, I don't like to see Fournier cut. He's a very good prospect and when he has been on the floor, he was more intriguing than Diot or Westermann. I really don't like how Vincent Collet has played him during the training camp. He can play a bit at the SF but his real spot is SG. Or, he played the most of his minutes à the SF... Instead of Diot who has been bad since the biginning of the camp, I would have taken the Fournier road. Parker, Heurtel and de Colo could have been enough depth at the PG spot. Fournier would have been at the end of the bench but able to bring energy if a game goes bad. Right now, France has Diot instead of him. He's more an insurance option than something else. He's less talented than Fournier but he is a PG...

For Collet, it wasn't a choice between Diot and Fournier, it was between Fournier and Kahudi. Collet said that he didn't want to have only 2 PG on the roster and De Colo isn't a PG for him.

Collet has never liked to play De Colo at the PG spot and, when he was forced to because of injuries like in 2010 and 2012, De Colo was bad. De Colo also whined after the Olympics that he struggled during them because his role was very fluctuating. I guess it pushed even more Collet to play him strictly as a SG.

I like to see Nando playing only at the 2. Collet and Pop have both understand the fact Nando is a SG who creates for other players but who is not gooed at the 1. And to see Nando playing as he did during the last 3 games is very interesting for the Spurs because Pop will probably play him next season nearly as Collet does this summer.

Between Fournier and Kahudi, Collet decided to choose the defensive profile. It makes sense if we need to stop with the hot hand at a moment. But if Batum or Gelabale is injured as at the Euro 2011, France gonna have some trouble offensively when Kahudi will be on the floor. Fournier could have been a better insurance policy in this case but we would have no defensive specialist on the team. I wish that we won't regret this choice.

Yesterday, Colet started Nando in the 2nd half instead of Gelabale. It allows Batum to play the 3 and Gelabale to sub in at the 3, opening more minutes for Diot at the 2. It's a way to reduce Kahudi's minutes because when Gelabale and Batum are starting, de Colo subs in at the 2 and Kahudi at the 3. But this lineup has been awful recently. That's why I think Collet could change his starting lineup for the next games. With a Parker, de Colo and Batum backcourt, we played well yesterday.

I agree that De Colo will be moved at the SG spot next season with Spurs. Aside of playing SG in summer league, Spurs roster is quite thin at SG/SF with only 4 other players (Leonard, Green, Ginobili and Belinelli). When one these 4 won't play or when Spurs will play small ball with Leonard at PF, there will hae some minutes at SG for Nando.

For the FNT SG/SF rotation, Kahudi and/or Diot will get some minutes early in the Eurobasket when there will have 5 games played in 6 days. After that, Collet will likely go with only a 3 men rotation of Batum, Gelabale and De Colo. If one of these 3 is injured, Collet, as you said, might regret not to have kept Fournier.

At least this will be the last year they even have a FIBA Oceania.

That event has been pretty much a glorified exhibition the past few years.

A nice and easy win for FNT against Georgia that was likely tired after their game against Serbia.

Diaw and De Colo continue to play well. Diaw is really looking more at his shot that what he did lately with Spurs and FNT. De Colo is having a strong preparation playing exclusively SG. With the little weight he has taken with Spurs and his improved toughness, he even looks good defensively. Parker was coasting and very quiet in that game.

There are a lot of interesting preparation games coming up today, France - Spain and Canada - Argentia among them.

Spain has looked quite beatable in the game I have seen them play in against Poland (without Gortat). They don't have that consistent inside threat any more with Pau and Ibaka absent and Marc just venture into the low post all that much. If the outside shots are not falling their half court offense does'nt look really pretty. The x-factor I'm looking out for is wether Batum and Gelabale will be able to take advantage of Spain's lack of size on the wing to get some easy points inside.

Canada already played yesterday against Puerto Rico and Cory didn't put great stats: http://www.fibalivestats.com/matches.../74aN43IXyCG6/ 6 points+4 assists in 18 minutes. I wonder if he was matched up on Arroyo or Barea. I hope it was the former because Barea dropped 23 pts on them. Today he will play against Campazzo, a young guy who I recall is a defensive pest a lot like Cory. It should be a good test to see if he can score against a quality defender.

Parker and Petro won't play today because of minor injuries. It's a precautionary measure. Parker has a bruise just above the knee after a hit he received in practice Thursday. Both will play the next game Monday aging against Spain.

I haven't been able to watch the game but France lost 85-76 against Spain. De Colo had 13 points in 20 minutes. Diaw had 4 points with an ugly 1/7 from the field and 6 rebounds in 24 minutes.

I'm also keeping an eye on what Hedo is doing with Turkey and his stats looks fine. I haven't watched a Turkish game so that as far as I can tell about him. Hedo will be waived between now and January 7th and could be an option for Spurs.
