To this point, yeah, it's got to be Leonard or Green, but let's be honest, if they're going to pull this off, it's going to have to be Parker or Duncan by the end and given the news with Parker, probably Duncan.
He's the leading scorer in the series after 3 games. He keeps it up, and they'll give it to him. Obviously you don't get the point here, either.

That would be awesome.
Nah he's still a spot up shooter, it'd be like giving it to Ibaka or something.
Usually stats get you that award but in this case it might be Kawhi getting the nod because of Lebron's numbers
It's a team effort so far, but if I had a vote, I'd give it to Timmy. If this is his last le, might as well get the MVP on his way out.
NOOOOOOOO if this fool DG gets the finals MVP we add 3 million per year!!!
MPVs THIS IS A TEAM!
But tbh Duncan, always Duncan. Defense is half the game and no one is more important there. As great as Kahwi is it's still very much team defense/sttrategy on Bron and overall it's Timmy making it as good as it is.
Spurfans, I'd just like to point something out:
Finals MVP has always gone to the player with the highest PPG on the winning team almost every single time, with VERY few exceptions. The only ones being when the guy on the losing team had a vastly higher PPG than anyone from the winning team (like Jerry West).
So if the Spurs win, it'll likely just go to whoever scored the most points. For whatever reason, that's who the award almost always goes to. Defense tends to go overlooked.
I don't agree with it, but that's how its awarded. It really could end up being someone other than the Big 3, like Green or Leonard.
If anybody else had shown up with Green in game 2 we could be up 3-0. That really hurts now if TP is injured.
Good point. You could argue Ben Wallace's defense was MVP like when the Pistons won in '04 but Billups won anyway.
And it's just as rarely a role player/4th option so that doesn't mean anything.
Leonard has an outside shot when he's the third option, average a double double and guard Lebron James, Green doesn't have a shot imo.
For people that hate LeBron, it would be hilarious to see him
A) Lose in the Finals again, and
B) For a 2nd year player to get the Finals MVP for the defense on him
Translation: Miami loses finals they "should have won" because LeBron got shut down by a second year player.
That would put a dent on that ego (if possible).
It's rarely a "role player" because they don't lead the team in scoring. That doesn't really refute the PPG point.
Yep, or Bruce Bowen's defense on LeBron in 2007.
I say give it to Lebron in a losing cause. That would be the perfect exclamation point on the series tbh.![]()
Patty Mills, i love watching him on the bench
16 made 3s in this series already. not saying he'll keep it up but most likely he will.
if that's the case, then it's Duncan. his defense and passing has been stellar.
Can finals MVPs be given out as lifetime achievement awards? I really want Tim to get it....
Probably would be TD unless Leonard has 2-3 more dominant games with 20ish points 12 boards and some steals, plus if lebrons offense doesn't step up that would really make leonard stand out more for playing dat dere lock down d
Duncan, always Duncan. Yes, he's not super right now, but almost 14 points and 14 rebounds it's not small thing. And I have the feeling he's going to have a BIG game in the 4.
Pop should say to Stern when he hands the Spurs the trophy:
"Thank you. You motivated us to get here when you incomprehensibly fined us 250K earlier in the season for resting our players. We knew then that we had to win it all so that at this very moment we could look you in eye and spit directly in your face."
Co-mvp's Leonard and Green
