Unsung MVP is TD tbh. Running the offense thru him regardless of his offensive output worked miracles with the inside out game. We need to keep going to him consistently and hope the officiating doesn't get bad again. With fair officiating on the block, Spurs have a significant advantage going forward.

And it's just as rarely a role player/4th option so that doesn't mean anything.

Leonard has an outside shot when he's the third option, average a double double and guard Lebron James, Green doesn't have a shot imo.
"Options" are things that fans talk about when discussing roles before games. Whether he's supposed in the game plan or not, Green is the leading scorer. That means he's been the best option for getting points in the series. Leonard has been wholly unreliable in that regard, and he's probably about the fifth option both because he's tired from guarding James, but also because he's so damned passive. Green's played so well that Miami has put James on him, and Green just kept scoring. It's actually really impressive.

This is what I said about it in the MF'ing Green thread:

Damn it, people need to stop saying that. Leonard's played great defense on James, but he's not the star (even defensively) that people are making him out to be. Save a few moments tonight, he's actually been pretty bad on team defense, and he gets a lot of help on James. I love his rebounding, but his lack of consistent scoring and strong team defense put him at a pretty distant second to Green as far as series impact so far.

Not only is Green doing work on offense, but I actually like the way he's playing James more than the way Leonard is. I don't think Kawhi's gotten into James' head, but I do think Danny has. He's made about a dozen incredible plays when matched-up one on one with Lebron, and I don't think James can get his head around that. He still sees Green as the player who got cut after one season with Cleveland, who never played when Lebron was there, even though the guard rotation there left a lot to be desired. You could tell that in Game 1 when you saw how he looked at Green when matched up with him in the post. When Green blocked James' attempt to force a jump ball, Lebron pointed to Danny as if to say, "I'm jumping against him? This'll be easy." Then James tipped the ball out of bounds. Save two moments, Green has really had James' number, and I think that's disconcerting for him. You can even see it in how he pushes Green around in the post now compared to in Game 1.

Bill Walton said in Game 6 of the 2003 WCSF against the Lakers that Duncan proved he was the MVP by taking on Shaq. He said that other players could look at their men and say, "If Duncan can take Shaq, I can take this guy." That's what being the most valuable player is all about. Green so far in the series has shown the Spurs that he can take Lebron on both ends. If that's not worthy of the MVP, I don't know what is

No question it'll be either Duncan or Parker if we win. No chance Kawhi gets it for defence.

If Duncan can start hitting his layups then he will get it, his defence and rebounding have been great all series so far.

It's going to be whoever has a monster closeout game, Right now it's up for grabs between Danny and Kawhi, Kawhi for his great Defense and Danny for being consistently hitting shots and playing decent D. If Tony comes alive though for a game then they'll give it to him or Timmy

Danny ing Green would deserve it if he keeps this up but I think it will be Duncan regardless, kinda like Kobe in 2010 only that Duncan is not chucking his team out of wins. His rebounding and defense has been great, I think he'll pick up scoring and will even his stats out.

Green probably but Leonard deservesso much for his great defense on La Bron, rebounding and overall hustle. But I'd love Duncan get huge games the next two games to win another one for all time greatness sake.

Not looking past the next game and these finals are FAR from done but so far in these playoffs the MVP would go to the Spurs TEAM as a whole. Everyone has their role and is valuable. From Tim's leadership, to Parker/Ginobili's clutch shots, to Patty Mills bench support, to Blair's energy in garbage time. At one point in these playoffs every player stepped up in their own way.

If we luckily win this series the Final MVP will be between TD or TP although both of them don't have proper individual statistics in game 2 and 3 Timmy and TP will take over the rest of the games for sure you can't expect Neal and Green continue to be flame throwers so at my point of view TP still stands a good chance to be selected as final MVP if we win it all

We are like the 2004 Pistons

No clear cut MVP, so the award would go to the leader of this team

    Timmy

I'd currently give it to Leonard, but Green is a close second. He keeps up this shooting pace and he could pull ahead. The job Kawhi is doing on LeBron, though, is astonishing. I keep reminding myself he's only 21. It's insane.

As much as Im loving it, Green is just shooting open 3s that his team mates are setting him up for. No chance he has a shot at Finals MVP

Whatever happens, the fact that there's a chance that a non big 3 player gets it is amazing.

While I think I'd give it to Leonard, it's close. Green has been a brilliant offensive player, and his ability to hit 3's with some dribbling beforehand makes him more valuable. His 3's have included a lot of open spot up looks, and he's knocked those down. But they've also included shots with a bit of dribbling beforehand. Continuing to shoot an obscene % on those looks is great.

let's hear from ESPN : what do you think ESPN?

    1. Unheralded Spurs Roll With Driven Duncan

    By J.A. Adande | ESPN.com

SAN ANTONIO -- So much of this Night of the Unsung Spurs -- a night when Danny Green made seven 3-pointers and scored 27 points, when Gary Neal had six 3-pointers and 24 points off the bench, when Kawhi Leonard had a double-double and once again put in serious work to hold LeBron James to fewer than 20 points -- started with Tim Duncan.

Duncan had a game-high 14 rebounds, plus two blocked shots to go with his 12 points. He initiated so many of the San Antonio Spurs' 20 fast-break points. He ran back to be part of the transition defense that held the Heat to 11 fast-break points. The oldest man on the court was hustling to the sidelines and outjumping younger Heat players to tip rebounds to his teammates.

The Spurs' foundation made his mark on Game 3 even though they looked deeper than ever while thrashing the Miami Heat 113-77 to take a 2-1 series lead in the NBA Finals. The organization that made stars out of Tony Parker (drafted 28th) and Manu Ginobili (drafted 57th) is now getting trips to the NBA Finals interview room podium from the likes of Neal (undrafted) and Green (waived by the post-LeBron Cavaliers and cut twice by the Spurs before Green's voicemail plea to Gregg Popovich earned him a second chance).

Popovich was so proud of the efforts of these cultivated heroes that he actually turned verbose when asked about them after the game, calling Neal a "quality individual" and Green a "confident young man" as part of his answers that cons uted full paragraphs, not blurbs.

The Spurs got contributions from so many people that their most dominant stretch of the game came after a strained hamstring forced Parker out of the game with 5:07 left in the third quarter. Parker said he "felt something on my hamstring." He was cleared to return and played a minute and a half in the fourth quarter, but the Spurs' cushy lead after quickly rebutting LeBron James' lone stretch of influence on the game made it unnecessary for Parker to continue.

And before you write off the Spurs if they get bad news from an MRI exam scheduled for Parker on Wednesday, keep in mind that they went 11-5 without him during the regular season
They would be diminished without Parker, but not necessarily done.

The Heat didn't allow Parker to make much of a scoring impact anyway the past two games. Tuesday night he was 2-for-5 from the field and scored six points in 27½ minutes before he came out. He adapted to Miami's defensive attack of having a big man jump out and stick with him off every screen by seeking out teammates and recording eight assists.

It was similar to Duncan's resolve to impact the game even when the ball wasn't coming to him.

"I'm just trying to do whatever I can," said Duncan, who was 5-for-11 from the field after shooting 3-for-13 in Game 2. "I don't feel like I have a great rhythm right now. I got some shots to fall, a couple of shots, but I'm missing a lot of easy stuff. But the one thing I can do is go out there and try to make some hustle plays, try to get us some second possessions and just try to find a way to help the team however I can."
    • Duncan grabbed a rebound and whipped a 25-foot outlet pass to full-speed Parker, who flipped the ball to Neal for a 3-pointer just before the halftime buzzer.

    • Duncan blocked a layup by Mario Chalmers in the third quarter, chased down the ball and saved it before it went out of bounds, leading to a pair of free throws for Green.

    • Duncan grabbed an offensive rebound in traffic that led to a 3-pointer by Leonard.

All of the guys the Spurs cut and pasted onto this roster kept reaping the benefits of the guy who was delivered by the fortuitous bounces of the pingpong balls in 1997, and the guy who never acts like a franchise player, even if it means cleaning the dishes and taking out the trash.

"Just because he's a little older doesn't mean he's lost his compe iveness or his professional will to compete," Popovich said. "That's not going to stop.

Green and Neal had their well deserved turns at the podium Tuesday night. But Duncan was up there first.

Pop should say to Stern when he hands the Spurs the trophy:

"Thank you. You motivated us to get here when you incomprehensibly fined us 250K earlier in the season for resting our players. We knew then that we had to win it all so that at this very moment we could look you in eye and spit directly in your face."

I would give it to Timmy, but it is obvious that this is Parker's team and he would got it.
If we would only watch the Finals it is Leonard. His defense is the best LBJ ever seen. Really, nothing to complain. Guy grab rebounds, steal the ball, make plays. His improvement in this playoffs easily makes him a top 5 SF.
