What's new? The Spurs are typically out of championship contending beginning the year, then all of sudden when the Spurs have the best record mid-season they're good because they have championship experience.
Lebron better hope Houston isn't compe ive in the Western Conference compe ion. The stigma of him not being able to beat Texas teams might be unbearable if he drops two Finals to San Antonio, one to Dallas and another to Houston!

With all of the unknowns, Dwight Howard, Kobe, Nash, the fact the Lakers won't even listen to D Antoni, they think the Lakers?
They have no idea what kind of team they will be putting on the floor, Mitch Cupcake has no idea....
company men tooting the company horn.
they really cant wait til the spurs are gone forever.
Who are they anyway?
Mike Greenberg (or Greenburg) - does it really matter? This guy is a tool of the highest order. He thinks he is an expert on the NBA because he covered the Chicago Bulls almost 20 years ago. Because the Spurs succeeded the Bulls, he looked down on them as inferior. He has denegrated the Spurs and looked at them with some kind of disdain for YEARS. He was the biggest er and moaner when Steve Nash flopped in the 2007 playoffs and the bench suspensions occurred. The Spurs win the le and the Spurs (in his mind) did not deserve the championship - the Suns deserved it in his mind. Every time the Spurs have made serious playoff runs the last ten years this fool has looked down on the Spurs. He wanted OKC to beat SA last year because he had a man crush on Durant. He picked against the Spurs EVERY round this playoffs. I doubt he even has watched any Spurs games until the playoffs and his opinions are based on zero knowledge.
Mike Golic is a mouth breathing moron - nothing further on him to really talk about. He can barely speak the English language.
These fools did say they wanted Miami to win because "they want a game 7". I doubt they would say that if Miami was up 3-2. They would be talking about Lebron's legacy and adding to it. These stupid yankees that infest the ESPN Disney monster don't even hide their disdain for the Spurs because they don't follow the marching orders of Mr. Stern and the 5th Avenue NBA office.
If I recall the regular season controversy was in part due to the Miami road game was an ABC or ESPN game. These people don't like that either. Just another reason to hope the Spurs win tonight.

Millions of sports fans. That's why they're on TV and radio to a nationwide audience.
Rooting for game 7.... so we can talk for another game. Pointless show.
The real question is will we be better or worse than this year? Most likely worse, they'll have to be very smart/aggressive this offseason if they want to have a shot at repeating.
I don't think they are particularly talented or interesting. They are just part of a big machine that has an agenda to promote. A wildly successful Spurs franchise is contrary to the ABC/Disney agenda of promoting the divas that populate the Heat/Lakers/Clippers roster.
I have more of a problem with Greenburg because he never gives the Spurs any credit without sounding like it is a begrudging credit.
He may surprise me if the Spurs win the LOBT today or Thursday, but I doubt it. I believe the Spurs run would be more impressive than the Bulls overall due to its longevity - five championships over a 16 year span. I doubt many people would agree with me.
The Heat are losing next year no matter what happens tonight or in game 7. The Pacers are licking their chops, the Bulls will be healthy, OKC will be back.. This is it for the Heat no matter what IMO..
Which of these things is not like the other...all of the teams mentioned have been fishing, some for quite awhile.
Well if Mike Green berg is saying the Heat will win tonight, that means they'll lose. Dude has an uncanny way of jinxing teams. Here's hoping anyway.
dont think either of them do basketball pretty well, but since they are the flagship ESPN radio show they tend to have good analysts. PJ, AJ, and DRob has been on a few times now. I actually really enjoy when the have Doug Collins on, he's good. Van Pelt and Russilo are the best for hoops.
On First Take, they're even sitting there talking about they think Popovich will "rest his guys"and are predicting a "huge blowout win" for Miami.
Gimmie a break. I don't get too annoyed with ESPN's ty takes very often, but they're going full re today.
Yeah, this is exactly what they're doing. They're betting against the Spurs' age every year like they've been doing for a long time. It's just a really lazy take.
Great post, it's not whether you win or lose but how you play the game and we have already won that easily.
The rest of the league can keep hoping the Spurs are done but I'll believe it when I see it!
They don't even know how each roster will look this year. The Spurs could improve even more next year... We have come this far with only two good games from Ginobili! Its just not worth even talking about until we at least know the rosters... so many of these teams are due for a good shakeup in their roster... Memphis doesnt even have their coach anymore...
Stephen A. Smith just said the Heat would blow the Spurs off the floor if Dwayne Wade was healthy.
What so he wasn't healthy when he scored 33 and 25 the last two games? And what, he's only healthy when the Heat win? Bull . It makes me sick listening to these morons. How can they be so ignorant?
ESPN's excuses for the Heat are just pathetic. Thank God I live in San Antonio and live in a hard-working and no excuse environment. Maybe the East coast, ESPN, and everyone else is just soft. Oh well. them.
Hey man, he is only gonna bring in about $59 million this year. Be nice to him. He doesn't deserve the scrutiny.
That's cool, but it's only your opinion. Just like it's my opinion that I don't think movie director Shalyman M. Night is particularly talented, nor his movies interesting. Doesn't change the fact that millions upon millions of people watch his movies.
So it would be ignorant for me to say "who cares what Shalyman M. Night says about movie making." Just like it didn't make sense for the person I quoted to say "who cares what mike and mike say". Because obviously, millions more people care about what they think than what any of us think.
Regarding Mike and Mike, I happen to like them, except when it comes to the Spurs. When it comes to the Spurs, all the national media (except for Skip Bayless) gets under my skin. But I like sports other than the NBA, and I know Mike and Mike do good work when covering those sports, especially the NFL.
Mike Greenberg doesn't know when it comes to basketball, last year during the offseason when the lakers acquired Nash he predicted that the Lakers were winning the le that year.
How anyone can listen to more than 5 minutes of this show is a mystery to me. I used to flip over to ESPN Radio in the morning during commercial breaks on my usual station, but I find the commercials less irritating.
It's M. Night Shyamalan - I guess you really don't know anything about him - kinda like these ESPN people with the Spurs!
I posted a thread about this a few days ago. I asked what the odds were that Pop would rest his players to give them 3 full days off before game 7. I took the position that the Spurs could have a better shot to win game 7 at 100% rather than playing game 6 at 90%, losing, then playing game 7 at 75% due to 3 games in 5 nights. I heard no rational argument to the contrary, just typical spurstalk venom.
I have to say it was refreshing to see a national expert like Skip Bayless agree with me. I mean, if Pop thinks its a sound strategy to use, then why not use it when it matters the most, the NBA Finals.
