You and I both know its going to get worse. Hold on to your saddle.
s to the know, Pop would trade his ass the minute Dwight showed up to training camp with that eating grin on his face
Why would the Spurs want one of the softest players in the league, who probably won't return to his pre back surgery form? Not even for 10 mil a year should the Spurs sign him.
Sure we could. Duncan isn't our main offensive option and Parker is often a liability.
I don't believe he can go to the Clippers. They don't have the cap room and the Lakers are prohibited from taking part in any sign and trades by new CBA restrictions that kick in this summer for luxury tax scofflaws.
I think he would be a great addition, despite all the off-court bs and his poor shooting skills. He would improve the defense and would give Duncan more longetivity. Play Duncan 25 mpg in the regular season and dominate in the playoffs, the defense would be amazing and Lebron would think twice about going to the paint with 2 anchors just waiting to block his .
However, SA is a small market and Dwight might not like that. Sure, he would join a powerhouse and be a Finals contender for the next 2 years under one of the greatest coaches ever but no one outside of SA would really care. Plus, he'd have to take a mil or two less.
why would a superstar like that come play for popa ?
Didn't think Ray Allen would go to the Heat last year... Crazier moves have happened!
Ginobili -14M
Jackson - 10M
Splitter -4M
I still think he will end up in Houston.
The Spurs are always "mentioned" in these statements by players or agents about the possible destination of some high profile free agent. I suspect it is merely because they recognize the Spurs are a great organization that keeps on winning and it makes their statement seem like they are only/seriously concerned about their fit into a good basketball team. Legitimizes their process, right?
HOWEVER, can anyone name any hotshot free agent that has ever come to the Spurs since 1976? I don't think so.
Howard has a nice little con developed where he pretends to be a Christian in order to get close to pornstars and strippers. He has a spiel down pat: "Jesus loves you too much for you to be living like this -- let me help you turn your life around." Once he gains their trust, he pressures them into having sex with him.
San Antonio doesn't have enough of a concentration of hot pornstars and strippers to sate Howard's sexual appe e. LA and Houston do. However, LA has the advantage of being close to great beaches and has a somewhat better clubbing scene (though H-town is OK in that regard). Since that sums up Howard's priorities, I see re-signing in LA as a shoo-in unless they choose to cut ties with him for whatever reason.
Injuries derailed the Lakers. They played big chucks of their season with their top players injured.
Howard wants to play someplace where there is no pressure on him to do anything but collect his money..
So I guess he'll go to the Bobcats...
They were terrible even when healthy..
Nash is 40
Kobe is 34 and a ball hog
Howard is soft and a head case
And D'antoni can't coach a team of middle schoolers..
Dwight is saying there he will walk from the Lakers. He would be more valuable for adidas as multiple champion, so there is a lot of money for him to earn. Even when Duncan and Manu retire, the Spurs will have a great well balanced core with Leonard, Parker and Dwight. Plus some very good role players in Cory and Green.
No they weren't. They were playing good right before Kobe went down when they finally got most of their team healthy.
They lost every pre season game and barely made the playoffs.. Kobe was playing 48 min to get them in the playoffs..
It doesn't hurt to find out! If Howard is considering SA, then great! If not, Spurs will move on.
I would take him. Pop would have to chisel away at him, having Tim would help the process. He wants touches, he would get them to a certain extent. The Spurs are unselfish and would give him the ball. At the same time he has to buy into Pop's/Spurs philosophy. He would have to give. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. Wait and see what happens.
I don't understand why Spurs fans are so appalled by the idea of signing Dwight Howard; if we succeed in signing him, it would immediately vault us to the status of instant favorites to win the NBA championship.
And it's not like the prospect of him coming here is all that outrageous. We potentially have the cap space to offer him a max contract, so finances shouldn't be a problem; if anything, our chances of signing him compared to other teams for financial reasons are further augmented due to Texas' lack of state income tax. Plus, if Dwight is serious about starting over, mending his broken image, avoiding media scrutiny, developing his game, winning an NBA championship, and cementing his legacy for years to come, there is literally no better option for him right now than San Antonio.
I bet if David Robinson and Tim Duncan were to talk to him he would sign
