If he can give the Production of Gary Neal, he's a success tbh.
Depends on the free agent picks.. Spurs have a lot of guards on the roster too so might see someone actually get traded if he shows enough during summer league.

his stroke is butter but he's gonna have to work hard to stay on the floor, defensive is a major flaw.
He is below average defender.
Damn, you watch that video and he buries 8 straight threes like it's nothing. He buries the shot off one dribble like it's a layup over and over. Catch and shoot like it's a two foot layup over and over. And this guy is a long-shot to make an NBA roster. Tells you how amazing NBA players are.
Game situation stuff and defense. Reminds me of Major League when they're throwing fast balls to Cerrano. When they ask him to do something he's not comfortable with I don't know how he'll react. Hopefully its something that can be corrected and he adjusts.

Some comments from DeShaun tonight.
His low release point on his jumper is somewhat concerning.
Well he can't be worse than Neal on defense, can he?
His release is a slow, the same issue we've had with Bonner when teams are closing out fast on him. Hopefully Chip Engelland can work his magic on him
i think he could really help us next year, i see in him a little an old version of Paul Pierce. great pick at #58...
he seems more comfortable taking jump shots than actually driving to the basket
I'm fine with this pick as long as the Spurs would pick Aminu to cover up DeShaun's lacking on his defense and rebounding.
You made my day!![]()
I really like the draft all things considered.
We get the size we needed on the wings, that's basically all we could hope for in this draft. And we maximized our flexibility as well.
Good first move but now it'll be interesting to see what comes next.
For 28 & 58 we did remarkably well. Genuine size alround. Bertans eventually at 6'10/11. Maybe a solid free agent in a couple of weeks. I like it.
Being that he plays for the buckeyes and watching him over the years the biggest problem he will have is getting his mind set right. He falls apart when he gets frustrated, like its a night and day different Thomas. His skill set is a good match and can only improve with the spurs. At the moment I would say it's good pickup as long as he is willing to put work in and go through the process.
Offensively, he looks to me like a slightly bigger Malik Hairston.
He doesn't have to be a star, just a guy that can fill a role, especially since Kawhi's involvement is going to expand this year. Buford said he could play multiple positions, we might see him at PF taking over Bonner's role.
i just hope SA gets Robinson now.
It's going to be hard to cut him without his phone number.
Maybe he's a poor college kid whose phone was cut off due to lack of payment ... and he didn't want to tell the Spurs that. I know I wouldn't.
Anyway, this guy looks like James Anderson v2, but cheaper and without the bad wheel and stench of failure.
At #58, great pick. I like it. Not sure he will stick, but solid pick for that position. As I watch the film on him, other than the consistent outside (3 pt line) game this guy has, his game reminds me a bit of Zach Randolph. Obviously a lefty, but quick off his feet, quick release in the paint, good rebounding instincts, good rebounder for this height, soft touch around the rim. Again, nice pick.
Awesome.
I can see it now. Thomas complaining to the media in some distant future game that Pop won't call his number. Pop repiles to the media, "I don't know his number. He wouldn't give it to me".
