He can shoot though, not the fastest release but can shoot and we've seen some crappy defensive guys that the spurs run out there because they can shoot.
Doesn't really matter bro. He was the 58th pick in a weak ass draft. Saw this guy play (follow college basketball closely) and he's slow footed and sucks defensively. Like I said before, hope he pans out but really unlikely.

Even though his footwork is slow, he almost reminds me of a heavier version of Quincy Pondexter. If he's able to contribute like Quincy did for the Grizzles, then I'll be okay with that
He can shoot but at the college level. Let's see how he handles guys taller, faster, and stronger than him that can actually get up and get in his air space.
Draft the international player with a first round pick to use the rookie scale to keep down cost, use the 2nd rounder on a domestic prospect. Not bad planning.
His combine results really confirmed that he is slow footed. 51 players did the speed drills at the draft combine this year and Thomas was the slowest on the agility drill and the 4th slowest on the sprint drills. I always took combine athletic test with a grain of salt but, in that case, it adds to the idea that Thomas won't have the foot speed to play SF in the NBA . With his size/frame/strength it's also hard to see him playing PF.
There are no miracles, when a player is available at #58, he has big flaws and is a long shot at even being an end of the bench player. It's even more true now than 10 years ago when teams did way less scouting, especially overseas, and some quality players weren't noticed.
I actually did drink most of the days when I was in Vegas for summer league. I had a designated driver the whole week. Good times.
So have we turned this late 2nd round pick into a Hall of Famer yet or not?
http://www.expressnews.com/sports/sp...0f24be927fc3fbThomas said he'll be in San Antonio next week, and he plans to play for the Spurs' team in the Las Vegas Summer League.
“I want to get there early and work out so their people get to know me better and then do the Summer League in July,” he said. “I want to keep getting better.
“I want to be a great teammate and a great scorer. I'm a player who wants to be better; willing to learn new things. You've got to put the grind to it. The grinders will succeed, and I want to be a player who can impact the game and my teammates.”
You know this draft was so weak I see less then 20% of them being in the NBA three years from now.
The guy is determined. Look at Bird, that guy is the prime example of someone who wasn't not even close the most athletic guy on the basketball court but played every game like it was game 7 of the Finals (but not saying he can be Bird b/c I think Bird and Duncan are two highest BB IQ players ever to play the game). To me, Bird is the prime example of any NBA player should play the game. Determination and perseverance will win out almost every time.
Thomas does remind me of Malik Hairston (just to let you know he led his team to the Finals of the Euroleague this past season) except Thomas is much more of a physical player than Hairston was. But Hairston didn't exhibit that desire to whatever it takes to get better and win. Thomas is sincere in his desire to be better and I think he will make the team, if not this year, more than likely next year. These are the kind of guys you want for the #1 option to the #15 option on your team.
No he didn't,his team wasn't in the Final 4 of euroleague.
Yes they did. They beat Real Madrid for 3rd place in the Euroleague compe ion. Dude, I keep up with European basketball more than most. Without looking it up at all, what team does Malik play for and what country is the team from.
He plays for Milano. They didn't participate in finals of euroleague not this or previous year.I know,i live in Europe and i follow euroleague.
He played for Siena in Italy. He just SIGNED with Milano. Siena was 3rd place in Euroleague last year with Hairston being their leading scorer.
No,he left Siena 2 years ago.

Me too,it's called a vegas cab.
I'd say the opposite. People are pissed off that we drafted this scrub instead of all those other future HOF'ers that were available at 58.
Mine was better looking.
probably more expensive than the cab ride
Definitely was a rookie mistake D.T.![]()
Not giving the Spurs his number, "a rookie mistake" lol.
On the bright side he had nearly the highest percent body fat at the combine, so maybe if he drops some weight he'll gain a millisecond or two. At least I think that's the bright side.
