Chances are Spurs re-resign Tiago/Manu, don't amnesty Bonner, don't match inflated deal for Neal and use the MLE for a new chucker. Maybe pick up a project D-leaguer as well. Nothing to see here folks.
at the cliff-jumpers if the Spurs don't get anyone in the rumor mill.

tbh after the RJ fiasco spurfan should be weary about trading for players because they have a "big name"
It's the last year of his contract though.
A 3-year deal isn't exactly a long-term plan, and it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have a guy who can start at either the 4 or the 5 on the roster.
Fair point. But who is that money really gonna get us? Oh, I know, another Gortat.
We only get scrub FAs or guys on their last ride. Sad.
PLEASE PLEASE make this happen.

That looks damn good on paper.
Yeah of course you do. You honestly think Tiago was in consideration for MVP of the WCF. I like 90+% of your takes, but you seriously overvalue Tiago Splittler.
Lol it's crazy but I'm starting to actually think forums have a great impact on these rumors.
Good point, contract year, sign his ass up
Splitter is a better perimeter defender, passer, and cutter then Gortat is
and his best trait is probably being able to deal with Popo
Gortat isnt known for developing great chemistry and will get tired of Popovitch fast
Gortat is a better rebounder, rim protector, and he can finish on the move as well
he also has a decent mid range J
not much of a post up game
I think it would be best though if the Spurs dealt Diaw who overall just doesnt care or show up enough
Splitter goes to the bench where he will dominate and he can still play 25-30ish minutes
Gortat starts and runs the pick and roll with Tony while Duncan spaces the floor
People who are saying smallball wins championships now are clueless tbh
3 out of the 4 teams in the conference finals started 2 good 7 footers
the only reason Miami suceeds with their version of smallball is because Lebron is a bigger player then most PF's in the NBA today
Miami still got beat up inside by a very average offensive Pacers team and the Grizzlies have a winning record for the Lebron era Heat and they actually shut him down last time they played in Miami
still, making a long term commitment to Splitter is a risky we'll likely have to take RIGHT NOW if a deal for a center doesn't go through. i like Splitter, and i know he's an asset, but the thought of giving him a 3-4 year deal making 8+ each year has me thinking we can do better. if we can keep the same level of play from a center for 1 more year without having to lock in, i'm all for it. especially if Tiago is expected to be making more than 7.7 million, in which case this deal saves us some cap room for this year too
I take gortat over Splitter in less than a millisecond
Again I see commenters that like chaps and boots and spurs and hats. They don't like the San Antonio Spurs.
how tall is diaw?
he wanted OUT last year so his d might have suffered
According to Matthew Tynan he's legit. And Tynan isn't a bull ter.
He very well could be legit, but making this up for more attention. That's a common mistake for young people in this profession. He very well can say "hey, deals don't happen all the time..".
620 am az sports talk
So... Diaw's play against Lefake (ESPN's darling and best player in the world) plus his high BB IQ isn't something worth holding on to??? I like Tiago but he was exposed as not being able to make small ball line ups pay by scoring at will. I'm not in favor of dumping him to dump him, I love his screens and P&R not to mention 1 on 1 defense but I think you are undervaluing what Diaw brings to the table for this team. He wouldn't mean as much to another team as he does to teh Spurs.
As far as Miami getting beat up inside by the Grizz in the regular season... Regular season is one thing, the NBA Finals are a whole nuther ball game. Miami's small ball line up killed us because we couldn't make them pay having our two bigs on the court. Our second big was too slow on D and couldn't simple shoot over his defender.
I'd rather trade Splitter for Gortat than Diaw for Gortat, for the reason that Gortat can reasonably fill Splitter's role, but he can't do what Diaw does.
