Come on guys. RC never signs the shiny FA toys we want *sulk*
Can't wait to see if he comes here and doesn't last the training camp & preseason. I would have never believed Spurstalk would have melted down about cutting Eddy Curry, but it was pretty funny to see last year.

Don't need to. Oden already made Spurs and Heat top options. The others are trying to convince him otherwise. It looks more and more that Thomas is going to get a roster spot to backup Kawhi. Spurs can sign him and Oden, trade or cut someone else (De Colo its looking like), and send him and Thomas to the D League for the beginning of the year for minutes and development.
From reports and Interviews, it appears that Thomas and Oden are really good friends so I wouldn't think it would be far-fetched if a scenario like this one played out.

I just hope Oden is smart enough to realize that San Antonio is the perfect place to rejuvenate his career.
M.O.E (Money Over Everything)
part of me is inclined to speculate on whether or not oden/thomas are linked or at least would like to be.
We'd need to dump some players to make room.. Again though we're stacked at the PF/C position and guard positions. Would be interesting to see Pop go roll with Thomas at the backup SF position.
I want him to sign with the Spurs, but Miami might be the frontrunner from what I read here a few days ago http://fansided.com/2013/07/12/nba-f...s-starting-up/
Hopefully he is smart enough and chooses the Spurs.
This is an article written by some Hack wet behind the ears sports writer. Were you even able to read that Quote in the middle of the article. Obviously the first thing this guy needs to learn is how to structure his background and font where it makes his lame articles legible.
I wish we would hear some news one way or the other about the Spurs and Oden.
oden seems more like a damaged project than a shiny free agent.
I just wonder if he looks as good as Deshaun Thomas said he does, or if Deshaun was just saying that to help him out? You think that the Spurs have asked him about working out with Oden? That quote from Deshaun is pretty much what makes it seem that he really could be in great shape and ready to contribute to a team this season.
Cannot let him go to Miami. If he is even remotely healthy he can make a big difference there and boost them even further.
Has Pop even spoken to him yet?
Does Dallas have more cash to throw at Oden than the Spurs do?
I don't think so. They used most of their remaining cap to sign Ellis. The most Oden will probably get is the Vet minimum anyways.
To be fair, Curry played very well. If Baynes weren't on the team, I'd still be open to exploring curry as a backup option at the 5.
Why is some other team ALWAYS in the #1 spot over the Spurs?
South Beach, Hollywood, Madison Square Garden, or any other city in the NBA that I can think of all sound more appealing than the River Walk or the Alamo. Players make decisions with their eyes and their heart. If Greg Oden would use his brain for one bit, then he would realize that San Antonio is a no brainer to come play for. For strict basketball reasons, Spurs would be the best fit for Greg Oden.
If money is equal, why would Oden go anywhere but MIA. They're the 2 time defending champion and it's a media zoo there. They have a need at center and Oden would solve MIA's greatest weakness. And why would he come to the Spurs who have Duncan and Splitter?
Exactly... Oden would be under less pressure playing for the Spurs. He can take his time rehabbing and not worry about having major responsibilities. Pop is a genius when it comes to being cautious and handling a player's minutes. Oden would have a better chance of prolonging his career and ease his way back to the NBA by playing for the Spurs. The Heat desperately need a big guy that will defend and rebound, especially with some of the teams in the East possibly getting better so a lot more will be expected from Oden by the Heat than from the Spurs because the Spurs have a lot of depth at the C/PR positions.
I honestly don't think spurs fans want or care about Oden. If he by some dumb luck signed on with the Spurs, how long before he hurts himself and becomes a waste
of roster space?
If Heat are in the lead there he will probably go there to try and win a ring like most will. Spurs were close but they are still the sexy pick.
even if spurs had won, the heat would have been the pick for next year as well (although they may not get out of the east next year).
