When the Suns faced Kobe and were down 3 games in the opening round, they rallied back to win. That's a big feat against the powerhouse of prime Kobe Bryant.
    Epic, tbh

To be fair, Lakers had a pretty decent roster for that system last year but their 3pt shooters sucked ass. Meeks,Metta and Jamison all missed a ton of wide open 3s and none of them even shot 40%. Kirby also kills the flow thanks to his pull up 3s 5ft away from the 3pt line. If Lakers had better shooters they'd be a top 3 offense in the league.
    bingo!!!

d'antoni's offense didn't work because the lakers not only lacked young legs but their 3 pt shooters sucked balls mainly, meeks and mwp who took 46% of the team's 3 pt attempts.

Exactly, worst 3pt shooter on the floor takes almost as many as a mentally re ed guy who does nothing but spot up and shoot 3's (misses though).

Now you do understand that mwp and meeks have open looks right? I mean their role is to hit wide open shots and they still can't hit a much decent rate.while kobe's difference is miniscule in terms of % he gets a fair amount of bail out three point shots.

this is always the problem when people only goes by boxscores and stats

and you have to be re ed to defend mwp and meeks shooting last season

Riiiiiiight. Kobe shoots a lower percentage, takes more shots, but his shots are contested. Now I see the method.

Look at the success he had in Phoenix. If it weren't for a hip check by Robert Horry and a subsequent suspension of some key players, that Suns team would have swept the Cavs as well and have a ring to their name (one that even Barkley couldn't get them).

He had several good seasons with a system everyone scoffed at and yet he ran to perfection. His team was exciting to watch and his system has been attempted by other coaches (including Pop a couple years back) with scattered success.

If he cannot win in LA, it's not on him. There must be other issues.

I would think that would make the road bright for Spurs fans, seeing that their window is closing faster than Jeanie Buss' legs of Phil Jackson walks away from the Lakers organization.

I like D'Antoni. He's had a handful of good defensive players in his 4 stops, which is the main reason for lack of a success IMO. This will be the last season for him unfortunately, as the inevitable misfit of Harden & WB flame out.

They lose more than they should running his system. They aren't doing any better than they were before they hired him. Still no rings. His system won't work against better 3pt shooting teams and face it, the Rockets have basically committed playoff suicide at the 3pt line in recent years. RW isn't Steve Nash. James Harden isn't a ball movement guy. SSOL had good ball movement at least.

hes going to play this season out, and then they are going to replace him next year. They didnt offer him an extension and this was the debacle a bit back.

Mike D'Antoni is the Nikola Tesla of the basketball world. He has all the great basketball theories, but other people have exploited and gained from them instead of him. GSW, for instance, has used many of D'Antoni's concepts and actually won.
