PM me man. But if he's looking to buy this is a horrific time between weak supply from the pandemic empowering scalpers and the huge rise in bitcoin prices, which has lifted ethereum values way up too as ethereum is a pos cryptocurrency designed to keep ing over gamers every couple of years.

Good time to buy RAM right now. If I wasn't on an ancient DDR3 platform I would have upgraded to 32GB no doubt this year.

LOL could you imagine how much of a cluster it would be if the PS5 got hacked right now? So that Sony could be taking losses selling the consoles to got eth miners?

Seriously, eth, they keep changing their algorithm so it can always be mined on gpus so when they want to pump and dump every couple of years PC gamers get ed.

Nah man once I saw they were selling out in minutes and only available for huge markups I just quit altogether. I guess I will be stuck w/ this piece of GPU until they make some type of laws to block AI shoppers buying everything that's popular

Even without the bots you'd still be having a really hard time right now though because of pos eth miners. At least 1060 is still good enough to play everything but Cybergarbage.

i5-9400F is a ty cpu for the money. i5-10400 is way better for the same price. Also a $65 Noctua cooler on a 65W cpu? That's ridiculous, stock cooler is fine. Put that money towards your gpu. There is no reason to spend for DDR4-3200 if you're not buying a Z-series board. AFAIK none of the other Intel chipsets will let you use XMP, which means you're going to be stuck around DDR4-2666 speeds. Also, don't buy until you can get a gpu. For the $1000 range I'd say get rid of the stock cooler, get cheaper RAM, bet 10400F instead of 9400F, and get on EVGA's auto-notify for an RTX 3060 Ti from the EVGA Store. I don't know if you'll get one signing up this late, but probably won't get one anyways. Assuming you could get their cheapest $460 RTX 3060 Ti from the EVGA Store today the build around it I'd do would be

where I'm assuming you already have case, monitor, keyboard, mouse, controller, etc since you didn't included them in your initial build. I think a 550W Seasonic PSU would be enough even with an RTX 3060 Ti since everything else in the system is pretty low powered, but you have enough wiggle room to go with the 650W unit if you want without going too over budget.

You thinking about selling your 1060? I can't believe on Newegg the cheapest new 1660 Super I found yesterday was $450. And I had doubts buying it at $240 last summer but figured it, I wanted RDR2 and Control at 60 fps.

    thanks for the feedback tbh

I'll run this by my computer tech guy (he's the one who put it together for me)

might just go with an alienware prebuild, but I'm sure the prices have jumped since that first round of stimulus payments went out

Just a total time to buy / build a gaming PC. Personally I'd just wait a couple of months and hope the cryptocurrency bubble has popped by then. Not like there is much new in the way of PC games coming out anyways right now.

Siege should run well on pretty much anything halfway competent. Was just looking up benchmarks for Total War Troy and that one looks pretty heavy on the gpu if you want things maxed though. Damn too bad you weren't looking to buy 6 months ago, you could have gotten a $120 Ryzen 5 2600 and a $230 GTX 1660 Super and probably been able to build a good system for those games for $600 or so.

Ethereum is ing cancer. They specifically design the coin to be mined on gpus and resistant to people using dedicated ASICs like how BitCoin, LiteCoin, and such are mined today (can't profitably mine them on gpus any more). All because of some libertarian fantasy about how corporations mine with ASICs while with ETH it's just individuals mining on their personal gpus. What a joke, like gpu mining farms don't exist.
