next game---- Game 5, Thursday, Oct. 17, at Detroit 8:07 p.m.
Boston rocked Detroit's bullpen once. Detroit rocked their starters twice. That could be the difference in the series.
Up and down but compe ive series so far. In reality, the first three games of the series, either team could have easily won. The series could be 3-1 for either team and heck the Tigers could have taken all 4 games already. But that's what happens with two good teams who are grinding out each game. This series has been very unpredictable from jumpstreet. Jon Lester and the Red Sox at home for game 1 against the Tigers 3rd starter (albeit very good too) in Sanchez. And the Tigers take it 1-0. Scherzer pitches a gem only to watch the Tigers bullpen blow a 4 run lead. Maybe the Tigers bullpen isn't all that great but you still expect the back-end to hold a 4 run lead in the 8th inning. Tigers all set up in game 3 with Verlander at home and he gets outdueled by the resurrected corpse of John Lackey. And then yesterday, again very unpredictable. Peavy, a veteran tough-as-nails pitcher, walks 3 guys in one inning to open the gates and sure-gloved Pedroia miffs on a double-play ball that would have ended the inning and prevented 4 runs.
Lots of ups and downs, highs and lows, oddities and great pitching. And here we are at 2-2. Whoever wins game 5 obviously has the edge. It will be extremely difficult for the Tigers to win games 6 & 7 in Boston. But on the other hand, it will be extremely difficult for the Red Sox to beat BOTH Scherzer and Verlander for a second time this series. Big game tonight.
Starting Pitchers for tonight's game in Detroit
Tigers ----Anibal Sanchez
Red Sox--Jon Lester
nice stroke by Napoli
It's not over til it's over.
4-3
Porky just grounded into a double play but it brought the run home.
Porky II followed with a nice line drive but foul, then grounded out.
7th inning over.
SOX WIN SOX WIN
BACK TO BOSTON
Napoli is so clutch, can't believe Jon Daniels let him walk.
And they helped Nolan out the door--
At least he didn't send Nelson Cruz to the Sox. This thing would be over already.
I started back to watching and rooting for the Rangers when Nolan came back.
Nolan was a baseball guy and he gave the Rangers cred that they needed. They
made some good moves and into the world series......
I hope the don't turn this into a Jerry Jones Cowboys type of team where they think
they know it all but make bad decisions. Fantasy baseball.
2 GS's decided the series. It's a shame the Red Sox are back in the WS, go Cards.
Is Detroits drop off from starter to relief the biggest drop in playoff history?
Hey, at least we don't have Jose Valverde anymore.
Congratulations to the Red Sox.
