1. Joe Table
2. Art Modell

For a lot of people Mesa wasn't the real culprit; Mike Hargrove was the culprit for putting Mesa out there. Mesa had been shaky throughout the regular season and in the playoffs. He blew two saves in the ALCS against Baltimore, although the Indians ended up winning both of those games. Hargrove still gets a lot of heat for not going with Mike Jackson, Brian Anderson- anyone but Mesa.
