OMG! I had a dalmation who did that.... it took over 8 hours to remove all the quills... and we lived i nthe middle of nowhere Mass at the time.. so the boondocks country doctor just told us to liquor the dog up and pull the mwith tweezers...... poor thing..

ZStomp, that was seriously mean. I might have awakened the girl who lives upstairs.
My girlfriend's dad mentioned that picture to the vet one time, and the vet said that dog's come in like that all the time. There's one dog that's a 'patient' of his that comes in like that literally once a month.
Evidently it's not uncommon at all. Looks horrible, though.

Subs ute cactus thorns for porcupine quills and you have my parents' golden retriever. She loves chasing after rats, mice & gophers and gets a little too ambitious some of the time. She is a pretty good hunter, though.
