Video of WR John Burt committing to Texas:
First WR commitment in exactly 13 months.
Now if they could just find someone to throw the ball to him
If Coach Watson somehow wraps up both Gentry and Locksley, that's about as good of a first recruiting cycle as possible.
Per 24/7, DT Du'Vonta Lampkin of Cypress Falls will announce his commitment tomorrow afternoon at 3:30.
Another video interview with WR John Burt:
A question a bit off-topic.
Does anyone know if the Dave Campbell Texas Football Magazine is worth the money? I've thought about buying it, but I'm not sure I want to. I've ordered "Friday Night Football - Texas" by The Old Coach, and I don't know if the two are too much alike.
Jerrod Heard will be that man... probably. He is honestly the best QB prospect we have had since VY. I say this because Colt wasn't expected to become as great as he was and Garret Gilbert was highly rated but my own evaluation of him wasn't in line with Rivals (although i like him personally because he's a chill dude).
That's not really that off topic. Isn't this magazine in like every Barnes & Noble and most H-E-Bs? Just browse through it there to see if it's worth buying.
Worth the price? It's a magazine, not a car.
Wrong choice of words. My bad. I live in Denmark, so a $10 magazine can easily cost $80-90 with shipping and taxes and so on. I've already ordered Friday Night Football, so I'm not looking to pay $160-180 for two magazines with the same content.
DMX7, I would've just brought it if I lived in the US. But I don't, so I can't really browse through it. I've managed to find some of Lindyssports magazines in Germany, but that's the closest I've been to actually holding a magazine.
Probably cheaper for one of us to pick it up for you and ship it, right?
Those prices are insane.
A few notes from 24/7 today.
- LB Anthony Wheeler will officially visit Texas during the season. He doesn't know which game yet. He says he keeps contact with the coaches once every other week.
- 2016 OT Zach Shackelford of Belton is a guy that might receive an offer down the stretch. Even though he is an OT he is ready to play at any spot on the line, and he believes that he will be a guard in college.
“Coach Wick said I need to grow and inch and he will offer me. But he also said that since I’m so nasty and aggressive that he might just offer me anyways,” Shackelford said.
“It was good. I put some people in the dirt. Some four and five-star guys,” he said.
Yeah, but in return we get free health care and free education, so I can live with it.
I had a friend who lived in Texas last year (he went to TCU), he probably saved me $1000 on sneakers that semester.
I'm not sure if that's meant to be impressive or if it shows that Charlie still has a lot of work to do in Texas.
Obviously he does have a lot of work to do in Texas. You don't just come into a big football state and out recruit coaches who have built relationships for decades.
You would think one of Heard, Gentry, or Locksley will turn out to be pretty decent. I think Swoopes is a lost cause; He is someone you take when you're loaded at QB and have the opportunity to let him develop for 3 years. He already lost that ability with his lack of redshirt.
Probably both. Recruiting outside of the state scared Mack to death.
