An article about Britt Hager. The last quote is interesting.

Hager’s biggest enjoyment in life comes from watching his four sons thrive, as all of them received football scholarships. His oldest played for North Texas, while another played for Blinn College. Another of his sons, Bryce, is tormenting Big 12 offenses for Baylor as a fifth-year senior. And his youngest, Breckyn, is a two-star high school senior working to decide on a college now.

Breckyn can follow in his brother’s footsteps to Waco, where he has verbally committed. Or he can follow in his father’s, as Texas recently offered him a scholarship.

“It’s hard to tell [where he will go] because he emotionally loves both of them,” Hager said of his son’s decision. “He’s my only son that looked at me and said, ‘I’m going to beat your tackling record.’

    Yeah. I read further.
    Thanks.

When I went to UT they actually had really good stuff going on.
Close to campus or on campus and it did keep things safer.
I just wonder if it's really "older" residents that have actually lived there for a while.

BREAKING: Lodge Decommits From Texas A&M

According to multiple sources, Texas A&M wide receiver commit Damarkus Lodge has opened up his recruitment and he informed David Beaty that he's formally de-committed. The four-star pass catcher told GigEm247 Wednesday night, “I still haven’t ventured out to everywhere I want to look at. This is all about me being able to go see other places.”
The Aggies depth at receiver and rushing into his decision were also cited as reasons for his decommitment.
Oklahoma, Baylor and TCU are schools the Cedar Hill product are highly considering at the moment. LSU and Ole Miss could be options as well but Lodge prefers to stay close to home.

Sucks that Texas won't even get a sniff from Lodge.

not necessarily. he's been off to a slow start this year and skyline shut him down. be interesting to see what kind of year he winds up having but so far, he has been less than impressive. then again, UT has a very weak receiving corps at the present time.

My own theory is Lodge eliminated UT once Darrell Wyatt left, and I still wonder what happened. I tend to believe Lodge and his family were told, or believe, Wyatt had a messy interview with Strong and that pissed them off. There had been rumors out there that Wyatt wanted more playcalling responsibilities if he were to stay at UT, but Strong wasn't on board with that.

I can't think of any other reason why Lodge and his family haven't visited Texas once during Strong's tenure, because UT was his leader up until the day Mack got fired. The guy used to go out of his way to visit Austin, but has never had any interest in visiting with the new staff. And it wasn't like he committed to A&M right away; he committed five months after Strong was hired.

As far as his A&M de-commitment, maybe he got word Wyatt is getting a job somewhere.

Cost the poor young man a star, it looks like.

Lodge Commits To Texas A&MJun 19, 12:53 PM
Wide receiver Damarkus Lodge of Cedar Hill, Texas, committed to Texas A&M on Thursday afternoon. Lodge, a five-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite, chose the Aggies over offers from LSU, Baylor, Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame, USC and others.
In the span of the next two weeks following the Allen quarterback’s monumental pledge to Kevin Sumlin’s program, #WRTS popped up on Snyder’s twitter feed three more times in reaction to the commitments of Kemah Siverand, Richard Moore and five-star wide receiver Damarkus Lodge.
Mesquite Poteet LB Malik Jefferson is considered to be an Aggie lean, according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball, so when five-star WR Damarkus Lodge committed to Texas A&M today, it caught his attention in a big way once again.
Etc. GigEm247 considered him a five-star prospect until today.

Update on OL Garrett Thomas of Many, LA (24/7):

“My team is doing very well right now and I have to do everything I can to make us better. I have to work on everything; from steps to sets to being more of a leader,” Thomas said. “I have really tried to shut my recruitment down completely and have been pretty successful in that.”

“He's (Coach Wickline) just really been stressing the importance of being ready for action in the spring and telling me that I'll be thrown in the fire early,” Thomas said.

“He told me on my first visit that his absolute plan is to redshirt everyone unless unavoidable. But lately he has been talking a lot about how important it is that Connor (Williams) and I come in and do everything we can to contribute because we are early enrolling.”

“I think that would be an awesome achievement and something I will do everything I can to accomplish,” he said.

“I’ve really been developing a relationship with Coach Wick. I talk with him weekly and sometimes multiple times in a week. Our relationship has really changed from him being a recruiter to him being a coach for me,” Thomas said.

“I really liked a lot of what I saw against UCLA,” he said. “I think they really came out to fight and showed a lot of heart. That really stood out to me.”

JUCO OL Brandon Hodges of East Mississippi CC responds to his Texas offer (24/7):

"They (Texas) like my game, I'm a great pass-protection guy," Hodges told Horns247 on Tuesday. "Working against the pass-rush. We do a lot of pro-style offense with the inside zone, zone read and zone option, so they like the way I move — quick, long arms, fast type of guy."

"Coming to Texas would be nice, but I'll weigh my options," he said.

"You just want to go to a school that you feel comfortable at," Hodges said. "A good environment, great people and people that you know would go the extra mile for you, as you'll go the extra mile for them."

"I like that, yes sir, I like that a lot," he said. "You have to grow up and be a man. Those types of characteristics and traits (marijuana, stealing, guns) won't will make you a man."

"And education plays a big role. I love hitting the books. That's a big factor."

Update on CB Kris Boyd of Gilmer from an anonymous source (24/7). I think there's confusion in the last part about the A&M/Alabama game. Doesn't sound like the source and/or the Boyds know the game is in Tuscaloosa this time:

“He’s slowed down finally,” said a source close to his recruitment. “He’s actually been pretty chill about it all. He’s just playing ball right now and trying to lead his team to their goal as a team and that’s to head to AT&T stadium to win it all.”

“I know he’s also excited about what his brother has coming his way and is slowing it down because of that,” the source added.

“I think he stays in state,” the source said. “I don’t think that FSU is actually a realistic option. They are too far away and he’s aware of just how far it is. He hated the drive to Alabama and I know the FSU drive was just the same. He would rather be closer to home. It’s basically Texas versus Texas A&M now with Florida State being a dark horse and minor possibility.”

“I know they (Kris and DeMarco) want to see Texas A&M versus Alabama and Texas versus Oklahoma,” the source told Horns247. “Those will be the only two (visits) they take. Kris wanted to see Texas A&M and I know they both wanted to root for Texas in the Cotton Bowl."

He's always said there's nothing to worry about, but I believe Elliott and Weathersby have always flirted with the idea of taking official visits. Coach Strong basically has to recruit everyone as if they're uncommitted considering Texas will probably struggle to make a bowl.

Most of my elementary/middle school friends did but I moved to Bullard for HS. Small school just south of town. They are actually doing quite well this year. Their coach since 2010 is Shannon Wilson, who was DC at Southlake Carroll. They advanced out of the first round of the playoffs under him for the first time in school history, going three rounds deep. Got stuck in the District of Doom the past few seasons but the playoffs are once again realistic this season.
