Update on TE Devonaire Clarington of Miami, FL after his official visit to UT (24/7):
"[Texas] stands the same and I can't really pull the trigger," Clarington said. "They need to keep building their dynasty. (Charlie) Strong needs to do what he did at Louisville at Texas and as soon as he does that he's probably going to be the highest paid coach in America."
"It was cool because it was a college town," Clarington said. "I see Texas everywhere. It was a college town and a big city at the same time. Miami is just a city and not a college town."
"At Texas, if you (other fans) are in any other color jersey, they are going to say something about it."
"I like to play early," Clarington said. "And the University of Texas is the biggest school in Texas and that is a big state. So if I go there, I am going to set an example for Miami and Texas at the same time."
A few quotes from WR JF Thomas of Dallas South Oak Cliff on where things stand with UT (24/7):
“‘(Texas) wants you bad, bro,’” Thomas says of the recruiting pitch from his teammates. “‘Just come with us.’”
“I was feeling good about it,” Thomas said after receiving the offer. “I was waiting on them to offer me, to be honest, and they finally did it. TCU is good, but Texas is on the next level.”
“They (Texas) are very much still recruiting me,” Thomas said. “I didn’t get to go to their last game against West Virginia. Next time Jordan (Stevenson) goes back I’m going with him.”
Pretty sweet site. How to (sort of) convince anyone your team is better than their team:

Nice find, that is clever.
Funny it even works when comparing to undefeated teams.
Hearing that Kent Perkins was carted off the practice field yesterday. Any in depth reports on that?
OrangeBloods says he is telling those around him he is fine and shouldn't miss time.
OL Darius James, however, is out for the year with structural damage in his knee.
Recap of the 1994 Tyler John Tyler vs. Plano East playoff game. Take a few minutes to watch if you've never heard of it or if you're too young to remember. Some of you may recognize the play-by-play guys from "Varsity Blues."

More from LB Cecil Cherry of Lakeland, FL (Scout):
”Man, the atmosphere, the town, the school, the football program… everything was amazing,” Cherry said.
“Coach [Charlie] Strong is just an amazing person. He keeps it real and he’s so genuine. Coach Strong tells it like it is. He’s just a wonderful man and we all know what a great coach he is. He knows what he’s looking for and that can come from different places. Look at me, I am a guy from Polk County in Florida and they want me. Then again, coach Strong knows better than anyone what kind of players come from Polk County.”
”Believe it or not Texas is my dream school,” Cherry said. “I have loved them ever since I was little. I am a huge fan of Vince Young and Colt McCoy. It’s those guys that had me loving Texas. I remember when they played in the national le game.”
”It’s the SEC and they are a team that’s really coming on,” Cherry said. “That has really stuck with me. They are on their way to doing some big things. I know that’s what coach Jones will be doing there in Knoxville."
”I am still committed to Tennessee. But I want to make all five of my visits. I just came from Texas. At the end of the day, I have to make the best decision for me. It’s a life decision and I have to make sure I go to the school that benefits me. I am the one that will be putting in all the work.”
”I will also visit Tennessee for sure,” Cherry said. “I am not sure about the fifth visit but I know I would like to take it. All I know at this point is that I am leaving the state of Florida and I will tell everyone where on February 5.”

A bunch of other recruits received new edits as well...
We had listened to a lot of it on the radio and quit after it got out of hand. Me, my brother and a girl that was with us left the house we were at to go to another friend's house so he turned it back on to see if we could catch the end...you know...just to be sure. Sure enough, it was just before the last onside kick. We all just kind of stared at one another in disbelief. It was our local announcers and it sounded like a funeral. Then that last kickoff happened...we were sitting at a red light as the announcers voice screamed out the yard lines..."he's at the 40! 30! 20!" The car was rocking like crazy as all of us bounced around in the seat, yelling and screaming.
Man those JT teams in the 90's had some horses. Allen Wilson split those backs in the backfield and ran to the right and left...and no one could stop it. Felt like he had ten backs rotating through there.
Nice quote from LB Jordan Hicks:
"This coaching staff, they teach. They do a really good job of teaching. Everybody is really involved with everybody. Coach Bedford sits in on every single meeting, whether it's linebackers, DBs, defensive line. He's in every room. Coach Strong is the same way, walking in and out, constantly teaching constantly making comments. It's nice to have three different heads you can kind of pick and learn things from. Obviously, I believe my IQ is higher this year than it has been in a while."
There were a few posts last night on 24/7 and Scout talking about RB Soso Jamabo of Plano West. Apparently he told a 24/7 reporter that Texas is back in the mix and he's looking into setting up an official visit. Both threads have since been deleted for some reason, so I'll post if I see anything else.
A newer name to remember for 2016 is OL Jean Delance of North Mesquite (24/7):
“Yes, I have interest in them (Texas),” Delance told Horns247. “I hope they do in me. They’ve offered a couple of 2016 guys though.”
“So far I like their hunger down there in Austin to pull off a great accomplishment,” he said. “They are building something special down there everyone is saying."
“They’ll be a more complete team in due time, but there’s many recruits and commits looking to build something massive there,” he said. “I can’t wait to see what they’re about to do in the next two-to-three years.”

Quotes from JUCO OL Tristan Nickelson of Navarro College (OrangeBloods):
"In the summer, in July, I went to one of their camps. I kind of got to know all the coaches there, met coach (Joe) Wickline, some of the other coaches. They said the whole year, we'll be in touch, watch some game film. I had heard a little bit from them the past couple games," Nickelson said. "They invited me up for the game and I kind of of knew where it was going, but it's never a sure thing. I came in, met with the coaches, said hi. Coach Wickline brought me down to Coach Strong, that's when I got to talk to him, that's when they officially offered and I committed on the spot."
"Being from Texas, a Texas offer, that's the tops. You cant' get much better than that," Nickelson said. "I grew up in Texas watching Texas football. It's always been a dream of mine to play at a big-time school in Texas. It doesn't get any bigger than the University of Texas."
"(Wickline) thinks I'm a guy who can come in, pick things up really quickly, and play for him immediately. That's a big selling point," Nickelson said. "I know they're pretty shallow on the o-line. They have like six guys that were available in the West Virginia game. I think he just sees that I can come in and pick up the system really quickly and help them."
"I think probably I would say I'm not a flashy player, don't make all the highlight blocks. I'm just really disciplined, don't mess up a whole lot," Nickelson said. "I just go out there and get the job done. Pass blocking is probably my best, out of a two-point stance, since I'm so long and it's really hard to run the edge on me. I don't mind doing run blocking, getting down in a three-point stance. I'm just an overall player."
"I got to talk to (Zach Gentry) a little bit. He's really pumped up that I committed," Nickelson said. "He said 'It's nice to finally have a lineman that I can look up to.'"
Update on ATH Tim Irvin of Palmetto Bay, FL (OrangeBloods):
"It was great place," Irvin said. "When I went up there, I liked the facilities, it's a great environment, everyone around there stood out. It was a great place overall."
"I spent time with the coaches. They were telling me how I could make an impact to the Longhorns, how they really want me and how they can make me a better man on and off the field, how I can get a great education. It wasn't just about football."
"I'm really still open to every school. I don't have a top school. But Texas is a great program. I liked everything about it when I was there," Irvin said.
"It was crazy. Everybody was pumped up, everybody was excited," Irvin said. "It was crazy, an exciting win over a good West Virginia team. Crazy."
