It's honestly perplexing to me that UT can't get a quality qb.
It depends on if we can do better. Transferring twice due to lack of playing time is not promising. Did he play at all at Arizona?

Heard might be quality. Who the knows though?
I know who's not and never was but was starting.
It's an awkward situation. The kind of guys that Texas recruits DO NOT want to be backups (and usually don't even want to redshirt unless they are real Orangebloods like Heard). So when one guy gets named starter (e.g., Ash), then everyone else wants to sitout/transfer. The problem is that Ash kept starting the season only to get injured 4 or less games into the season. Therefore, we didn't have a large selection of scholarship QBs to go to.
Heard was redshirting last season no matter what. So once Swoopes became starter after Ash got injured, we literally did not have a scholarship QB backup. Our backup was Trey Holtz (I'm not kidding).
That happens everywhere, Tech included. Is why Stidham came to his senses and decommitted.
but Tech still has two capable QBs on scholly. Ohio St has 3 beasts.
No excuse for Texas.
Well that's my point. Those guys are willing to be backups for a chance to play. Our guys generally are not as willing. Guys just don't want to be backups at Texas whereas obviously many were willing to at Ohio State. When I say "the kind of guys that Texas recruits", I don't mean how highly rated they are, but rather than at ude that if they're not clearly a starter or expected to start soon, then they are leaving. Ohio State guys obviously seem to have a different at ude.
But also, I'm not using it as an excuse. It's inexcusable. I'm just saying that what I think is happening.
Rivals saying Texas coaches will be in Cornelius, NC today to see CB Mark Fields.
Updated official visitors list for this weekend (24/7):

CB, Holton Hill, Houston Lamar

Per 24/7, LB Anthony Wheeler has set his official visit for January 23rd.
No official visit date has been set for WR Carlos Strickland, but he already has plans for the 23rd.
Take it for what it's worth, but 24/7 had a source tell them this morning "it's a fact" that CB Davante Davis will remain with Texas.
As far as ATH Tim Irvin goes, Texas will need to keep fighting but the same source believes he'll end up at UT.
BIG WEEKEND!
The Irvin situation is reminding me of Malik's recruitment. I think the paysites wrote us off too soon.
Everyone was writing off Coach Strong too soon. Including fans and myself.
OrangeBloods reporting OL Desmond Harrison is "not in the plans" for UT football going forward.
In fact, the university registrar currently shows that his last semester at UT was Fall 2014.
Also, he was not at the first team meeting yesterday nor has his JUCO coach heard from him.
24/7 had a chat today, and someone asked if Texas was recruiting any ST players. Bobby said that they weren't recruiting any kickers or punters, but a deep snapper out of Memorial High School in Houston. He didn't come up with a name, but I believe it's Michael David Poujol.

This should not be an issue but I believe the reason we have problems is that alot of players have a tough time adapting to Austin, just the city in general. Most of these guys come from small towns or places with little to do other than football and could still barely stay out of their own way. Now they come to a city like Austin with countless distractions and they are unable to cope with them. Austin can be a blessing and a curse. It takes a courageous man to conquer a place like Austin and make it work for you and not against you.
I guess the reports of him going to Wisconsin were premature...
