Update on 2016 TE Kaden Smith of Flower Mound, Tx.


One of the top tight end prospects in the class of 2016 had a chance to visit the University of Texas for the second time and came away impressed. Kaden Smith checks in at 6-foot-5, 235-pound from Flower Mound (TX) Marcus high school.
Head coach Charlie Strong and the rest of the Texas coaching staff are looking at numerous top tier prospects for not only 2015 but 2016 as well. They found one in tight end Kaden Smith. He has offers from Texas,Texas A&M, Tennessee, Stanford,Oklahoma and Ole Miss to name a few. Smith was able to visit Texas for the second time.
”My dad and I drove down and reached Austin about four,” Kaden Smith said. “We went to see the coaches and I met coach Strong. I ended up only doing the first half of the camp and talked about academics the second half.”
Even though Charlie Strong is in his first year as the Texas head coach he is making great strides with some of the states top talent.
”It was great and cool seeing the coaches again,” Smith said. “They stand near the top. I had a nice talk with coach Strong yesterday. I love the staff and they remind me of my high school coaches, people I can enjoy being around. The weight room is real impressive and so is the strength coach.”

Update on 2016 DB Jared Mayden of Sachse, Tx.

Head coach Charlie Strong and company have been quick to identify some of the top talent in the class of 2016. One such player is 6-foot-, 190-pound corner Jared Mayden from Sachse (TX)
Jared Mayden has been a major priority of head coach Charlie Strongand defensive backs coach Chris Vaughn since they arrived in Austin. The four-star corner had a chance to visit earlier today and work out for the coaching staff.
”I arrived in Austin at about 7:50 with my mom and my little brother,” Jared Mayden said. “As soon as I walked into registration coach [Chris] Vaughn was right at the door. They were telling me how excited they were to work with me. Coach is an overall cool dude with a lot of knowledge about the game. Charlie Strong is really putting Texas together nice.”
Mayden has had the eye of Texas on him since Charlie Strong and company arrived. He will be one of the most heavily recruited players regardless of position for Texas in the 2016 class.

Update on 2016 DE Andrew Fitzgerald of Flower Mound, Tx.

Head coach Charlie Strong and the rest of the Texas coaching staff will see over 300 high school football players over the next several days and one of them is 2016 defensive end Andrew Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald will workout on Sunday for the Texas coaches but was able to enjoy Texas earlier today.
Andrew Fitzgerald is a 6-foot-5, 245-pound defensive end from Flower Mound (TX) Marcus high school. Fitzgerald arrived in Austin earlier today to check out the Longhorns.
”I went with my mom and I can already tell the coaching staff would be some great guys to work with,” Andrew Fitzgerald said. “I loved the facilities and was impressed with the stadium. Coach Strong seemed like a good coach and had the right mindset. I only have great things to say about it all.Texas is definitely in my interest but I am still going to different schools.”
Where does Texas stand on offering the standout defensive end? It could come down to a few hours on Sunday. Fitzgerald will have the eyes of the staff on him tomorrow.
”He (Coach Chris Rumph) said he wants to see me at camp tomorrow before he says anything,” Fitzgerald said.

"If Texas keeps having camps like that under Coach Strong, the word is going to get out. I told our coach that was the best camp out there by far. I can see where some prima donna types aren't going to like it though!"

Two notes of interest from OrangeBloods last night:

-2016 RB Trevor Speights of McAllen Memorial was not offered yesterday, but Coach Bedford took the time to walk the family to their car and kept talking to them after that. He's definitely an offer candidate at his position.

-a source told them DE Dorance Armstrong of Galena Park North Shore was one of the best prospects in attendance and to keep a "close eye" on him going forward. He did not receive an offer but was given a lot of attention by the coaching staff.

Four-star safety Christian Wallace has landed another huge offer. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety from Sealy (TX) was extended a verbal offer from the University of Texas earlier today.
Christian Wallace is a four-star safety prospect from the class of 2016. The thought of staying close to home and attending the University of Texas has crossed his mind. That thought became more of a reality as he was extended a verbal offer from the Texas coaching staff.
”They offered,” Christian Wallace said. “My brother-in-law came with me and the campus is huge. I like it a lot and the stadium I have no words for. They (Texas coaches) were just asking were I wanted to go to college and I liked them all. Coach [Charlie] Strong seems like a pretty cool guy overall.”
Texas joins TCU, Oregon State andHouston as teams who have all extended a verbal offer to the standout safety from Sealy high school.
