Just read that Tony Parker has played more games for the Spurs than anyone except Tim Duncan, having surpassed David Robinson in yesterday's game.

Paker has now played 988 (IIRC) games including regular season and playoffs, one more than David Robinson had when Robinson retired at the age of 37 or 38.

Folks here who about Tony not playing as well as he used to on a consistent basis might remember that the mileage on his legs is as much or more than lots of
superstar players who are lots older.

The only Spur to play more games than Parker, at any age, is Duncan, who has played 1310 games. So, even though Tony is a good 5 or 6 years younger than Timmy, his nba playing tenure is less than 3 years younger. Three to four years ago Timmy wasn't having his most consistent year, either. Just something to keep in mind when ing about TP's play this year.

The reason for his sub-par year pales in importance to his inability to produce at a level consistent enough for the team to match its season long win streak from last year, but it does make it a little more understandable for those who don't have a hatred agenda.
This is a very good point. Add also that Tony was playing the best he's ever played only 2 years ago, and it reasonable to assume that much of his struggles are injury-related and not the end of the road for TP. But even if it were the end of the road, as you point out, only Timmy has lasted longer.

I'm greatly heartened by Tony's recent play. We look like the Spurs again and he is a huge part of that.

"Where are the big 3 in the all-time winning record for a trio? I think they tied Jabbar-Magic-Cooper for 2nd recently"

I think the Griz victory makes it #531. The Celtics trio had 540.

not hating on parker, to me his down year is just a straight forward injury/fatigue issue, but it seems silly to talk about mileage without taking into account minutes. drob and TD averaged more MPG in their games played, 2 minutes per game over a thousand games makes a big difference.

Bit if you are going to get down to that level of granularity, you should also take into account that TP's game involves running the loop play, going faster and farther each game than either a Center or Power forward position.
