HCA against OKC means the final box score will look something like
In SA:
OKC: 27-31 free throws
Spurs: 22-24 free throws
In OKC
OKC: 31-35 free throws
Spurs: 16-22 free throws
Tonight's game was by far the most poorly officiated game of the day that was one-sided in its bull calls that of course benefits OKC. If Phil Jackson ever coached a team against them, he would've called out the refs' bias to the point where things would change the following game. He was an expert at those mind games. It's not a classy thing to do and that's why pops doesn't do that but it has to be done against okc.
It is what it is. I've long come to accept the type of calls OKC gets tbh. No sense in complaining. We aren't on the court, we can't do anything about it.
It's not like OKC is a big market, this has been going on for years. We clearly remember game 6 of 2012 WCF, the Thunder are so hard to beat and that's simply because they get a reffing advantage unlike any other team I've seen before except LA in the 2002 WCF against Sacramento. I watched the second half, Memphis played so well to cut the lead to two, but it's seriously as if the refs have an agenda to ensure that OKC wins. Absolutely disgusting. I really try to respect Durant, simply because how gifted and skilled he is on the offensive side of the ball, but it's impossible for me. He's not tough, and whenever somebody plays tough defense on him like Kawhi does, he goes and cries and the refs make sure their baby boy Durant gets it easy by putting Kawhi or any other tough defender in foul trouble. I would bet anyone that his mom gives death threats to the refs before each game.
Bottom line is, we have to make our shots.
Durant single-handedly makes OKC a big market. OKC's local television market isn't big, but Durant has worldwide appeal. OKC/Miami consistently has the highest TV ratings of any pair in the league.
Can't wait for that hole to sink into obscurity once Durant bolts. They would never have even had a franchise had the swindler Clay Bennett not gotten his corrupt hands on the Sonics.
OKC is big market.. I'd bet they are the most popular team right now. I live in a country where basketball is 5th sport in popularity, yet I see a shtload of Thunder jerseys
I mean, it makes sense for NBA. Durant would be the most marketable champ in recent history, much more entertaining basketball player than LeBron for instance, he is beautiful to watch. But the team is badly coached and has disgraceful help from refs. Today was a robbery, no other word. I was fuming ..
sorry but OKC is in no way a big market..Thats for large cities with large media centers..LA, NYC, Chi....
Did you see the 2002 series vs the Kings? Apparently not....
And apparently you didn't watch game 6 of the 2012 WCF.
02 was way worse. The NBA is rigged. Always has been, always will be. The Spurs were never supposed to win. One ping pong ball off and and we have 0 championships. I get it, Spurs have to beat the teams, but we gotta beat the refs too...
OKC. Memphis is just re ed offensively. Spurs would have handled that ass tonight.
Fouls: MEM 24, OKC 25
FTs: MEM 18-31, OKC 28-32
Yeah OKC are cheaters because they made their freethrows![]()

Where is the World Peace to give'm real fouls?

To answer your question. Because OK City beat the Spurs in the playoffs and they are the Spurs biggest challenge in the west.
MEM: 18-31 on OKC's 24 PF
OKC: 28-32 on MEM's 25 PF
MEM -10 FT points, lose by 14
OKC: +1 FTA and -1 PF, not a good game to support the claim that the fix is in for the NBA/refs to grease OKC into WCF (not that I doubt the claim)
So you guys are saying MEM should have had 40+ FTA or that OKC should have had much less than 32 FTA? or both?
MEM ain't gonna compete shooting 36% FG. OKC's 44% FG isn't unbeatable.
MEM season avg 96 PPG, came up 10 short last night, and AVG 46% FG, came up 10% short last night.
OKC will win, but probably in 6 games.

I watched the game numbnuts
Not siding with okc but from previous games against the Spurs, the griz are dirty, grabby, poking and all kinds of illegal stuff
Memphis had a shot in the 3rd quarter, Gasol definitely gets the better of the matchup vs Perkins/Collinson/Adams.
Maybe that was the reason why OKC had to go small in the 4th quarter with Ibaka -more mobile and versatile than his bigmen teammates- at C to optimize their speed and athleticism.
Gasol played 45 minutes -ZBo 39 minutes- and looked exhausted when the Thunder took the +10 lead again in the 4th quarter.
Free throw and personal foul numbers parity at the end of the game don't always equal a fairly called contest. Because each player on each team has a foul limit and after the first few minutes of a game the players are pretty aware of what will be allowed in a given game for them a team that is getting whistled for straight up body to body contact will start playing off their man. So now that the guy is no longer playing tight defense the other team scores more easily. One team getting called for tight defense and the other not can be a huge advantage. There are also fun whistles like 3 seconds that kill momentum and give the other team the ball.
:-) now for fun, wse can take a look at how having a team made up of super athletes can help avoid fouls on defense and get more whistles in your favor on offense but that's a different story.
Yeah let's ignore all the calls that Memphis got in the first half and all their freethrow misses. Let's just selectively discuss the "Reflahoma" of the second half.
The Spurs need to adjust if and when they play OKC. Complaining about the refs gets you nowhere.
They need to find a way to move the ball crosscourt from strongside to weakside quickly without getting it picked.
That's the Spurs' huge advantage and OKC takes it away. And they do it legally.
So Pop, what's next?
(Pop would probably smirk and say "Dallas.")
