Probably. Most all WWII films in the states pretty much go like that.
Is it some teabagger version of events where WWII starts in 1941 and the US goes it alone destroying Germany no helmet and then does the victory dance on the Japs? Also, is Hitler played by Obama like in their bible do entary?
Probably. Most all WWII films in the states pretty much go like that.
That's why I hate some of the US made WWI docs. "Oh there was a couple of minor battles from 1914 to 1917, until God himself in the form of Pershing led the Freedom American Heart Army Of The United States Of Jesus Eagles to victory over all of Europe."
That's why I hated WWII in HD. How do you talk about WWII and just mention the ing Eastern front in passing when it's what brought Germany to its knees? It's why I loved World at War, because it wasn't some flag-waving fluff piece. And the Hollywood crap of "let's focus on personal stories of 5 random soldiers" on WWII in HD made me want to barf. I won't even watch the Ken Burns one since that's all he does in his ty do entaries (his national parks do entary was horrible). "The Great War and the Shaping of the 20th Century" was a pretty awesome do entary on WWI though, despite being American made. I still have to watch the BBC's 26 part do entary "The Great War" though. I can't remember if was DD or chumpdumper who recommended that one. Have had it for months but still haven't watched it yet.![]()
In the latest one on the history channel, Patton and MacArthur end WWI by punching the Kaiser in the with a tank. I don't even think Pershing is mentioned.
I haven't watched those old docs but I need too. chumpdumper linked to the first ep in that other WWI thread and I really ought to get around to watching it. I did see this though in my youtube surfing yesterday:
World at War is good . Though I am kinda worn out with WWII, since it's the US' favorite war to talk about. Movies, games, half ass docs, etc...too much.
rofl I haven't watched it yet. There's an encore tonight from 6-8 that'll be a good time killer before the assraping of the Spurs.
World at War is the definitive anthology of WWII. I have that on dvd and it is so extensive and thorough, it would be a must-have for any war buff or someone who is attempting to understand the madness that was the war. The beginning is so poignant that it sticks in my head.
Favorite do entary of all time.
For me? Yeah one of the best all-time--I do like Planet Earth and some of the natural science one but for war? World at War is insanely well done.
Gotta go with Grizzly Man myself, but Stevie has been gaining ground the last few years tbh
Grizzly Man just pissed me off. This ing jerkoff going and habituating a bunch of bears to people, making Katmai a more dangerous place for everyone, and then getting his girlfriend killed for it.
Back when history channel showed good docs. Now it's alien , pawn s, driving on ice, and a whole lot of worthless . Thank jeebus that they made the AHC to show the good .
some Russian-made WWII do entaries are the true hard asses, among which Великая война is my favorite. 's totally unbiased and it's hard to believe Russians could make such do entaries so great as this tbh.

I have this one looking at the war from the Soviet perspective:
It's so-so. Some episodes are pretty good and some of it just makes me want to sleep. It does have my Zhukov though, our greatest hero of the war.
I was rooting for the killer bear by the end. Just like I rooted for starvation in "Into the Wild."
At least he can know he accomplished getting two bears killed. Well OK, maybe he can't know

what i dont get after ww1, why did they allow germany to re arm itself for ww2?
I should've picked the latest Civil War corpse porn on PBS instead of that piece of crap History Channel show -- but that will be online.
Now they are showing some crazy 3D rendering project of D-Day. I'm in for an hour.
Let's not forget that the winner writes the history.

I don' blindly agree with the above info but a lot of it is probably true.
None of the other governments really cared at the time. They knew about it but were like "...eh". Also, Stalin. Germany was a great counter to what was going on there plus no one liked his ass. :/ They figured Germany and Russia would end up fighting each other (which they did) and pretty much make it super bloody for both sides (which it was).
yeah the channel is hardly recognizable now, I remember when it first came on air.
You're definitely right about that. It says something bad about the average tv viewer.
Were the do entaries any good back then? Or were they flag waving crap like WWII in HD?
